The house is lovely. Enormous master bedroom and great size twin room, both ensuite. The twin bathroom is large with a bath and separate large shower which all looks brand new. There is another double bedroom off the hallway which shares the bathroom with the twin room. There is also a small toilet in the foyer.
The kitchen is big, lovely and clean and seems new. The living room is huge with comfy sofas and a large TV.
You can park right outside the house on the drive, a tight squeeze through the gate though. The lock box is on the gate by the front door.
The village is very small and remote and takes a while to get to through winding narrow lanes, but the countryside is gorgeous. The village is pretty much just has a corner shop, bakery, Indian restaurant a teenager's pub (The Red lion) and a nice, small pub called the Old court house. We ventured into the village, which is 5 mins from the lodge on foot on a couple of evenings and ate at the court house one night.
You can take your dog everywhere in Devon it seems, sooooo many country walks too.
We don’t wish to leave a ‘ didn’t like’ comment because it was so lovely, but, if you are going to cook, make sure you take the essentials that you would normally find in a cupboard on holiday such as cooking oil, salt etc as there wasn’t any. There was plenty of cleaning stuff and kitchen roll but it would have been great to have had more than one tea towel.
The kitchen has a conduction hob but the large pans were not compatible which was a shame as we needed to cook a large amount of pasta but didn’t have a pan big enough in the end. It would also have been great to have had a cheese grater too.
But, these were just small things and it didn’t ruin our stay and we would highly recommend it.
In the glorious North Devon Countryside, perched on the River Taw amid the scenic landscape of the Tarka Trail, this relaxed hotel offers a comfortable retreat to nature.

Location too remote unless you want to go walking was given the wrong room should have had a garden room but had view of the carpark. Had poor access to reception wide steps no handrail.
Receptionist was more worried about how busy she was and not attentive. Evening meal expensive and very limited

Really great. We had the yoghurt compote, toast and croissants with a cup of tea. The host Jane was able to accommodate our need for an early start.
