Once you enter the location you feel safe and calm! The rooms are large, clean and bright! Fred, one of the owners, is extremely helpful and the nicest person I have ever met. He served an excellent breakfast every morning and learned about our preferences after the first day. I don't know where to start because everything about our stay at the bastille de Bellegarde was wonderful. On the outside the Bastille is a beautiful old stone provencal house set in a large garden. The inside is a quixotic mix of antiquities and art, lavish fabrics and old mirrors collected by the owner and host, Brian, who has restored this property with obvious love and attention. Our room was very generous with a separate seating area and large bathroom and faultlessly clean, comfortable and luxurious.
And then there was breakfast - the very best of the wonderful local produce selected and presented with so much love and enthusiasm. We totally enjoyed the bastille's oddly exotic decor, lavish breakfast and Brian's warm welcome. We'll be back.

Received a warm and welcoming reception. The room given was spotlessly clean and the complementary waters was great. The parking was secure and the pool facilities was refreshing. Albeit the location is not walking distance to Avignon, it's an easy short drive of about 6km with very easy parking surrounding the old city. Overall a great base to explore the Provence.
