If you like staying in a rural community this is definitely the place for you. Situated next to a medieval square with a cloistered church on the one side, this is an old building which has been tastefully restored to a high standard. There was a communal kitchen which contained a microwave, cooker(no stove), and a washing machine. A very comfortable sitting room which made you feel "at home" in. There were 3 "Juliet" style attractive balconies. Two small supermarkets were reasonably well stocked and were nearby. A restaurant and bar on the main road served very good food and drink. This was a perfect base for venturing farther afield. Not having a smartphone I arranged to stay an extra two nights because we liked it so much and the surrounding countryside was so beautiful at this time of year.

Peaceful, beautiful location from which to explore both the city sites and local mountain walks of Extremadura. Maria is an excellent host. Easy to contact and very helpful. Montanchez is a lovely village with a castle and walks, local bars and restaurants.
