This place is a hidden gem! A rustic cabin with the basic facilities you need to experience the jungle up close and immerse yourself in nature. Christian and Gabriel, along with Marley the dog, are welcoming local hosts who have a huge amount of insight, history, and knowledge to share. They offer different tours, and we recommend all 3 we did - the day tour in Corcovado, kayaking, and night turtles. They also offer meals if you let them know in advance (there are no easy options locally, so we'd highly recommend), and this made the stay really easy too. This cabin is for those looking to experience the jungle on their doorstep (literally!), if you are after a luxurious stay there are eco lodges nearby, but for an authentic experience (and possibly stepping out of your comfort zone) we would 110% recommend staying here. Everything was simply spectacular: the whole staff is always keen to help and make you feel at home, starting from Lana, the incredible owner of the lodge; the food is local, fresh and delicious; there is a whole range of activities that Lana organize - we even had the opportunity to participate to a Cacao ceremony that was quite an experience. You could literally spend from few days to few months in that lodge as you will always feel at home. The view of the yoga place is spectacular. Just keep in mind that the road to get there requires 4W car and a really expert driver, so if you don’t feel confident, is a good option to accept the lift from the lodge.

Hacienda Rio Oro is a great place to take a day to rest after you get out from Corcovado. It's a glamping site, sitting in the back yard of what used to be a cattle ranch. It's completely isolated from anything else, a 45 minute walk to the nearest beach you can swim in, and about an hour drive from Puerto Jimenez. You can hear the hauling mankeys early in the morning. The staff is very welcoming and will gladly attend to all your needs. The food is different in every meal and is simply delicious. I recommend to take the kayak tour they offer which will take you to the lagoon located in their back yard (which is much much bigger than it sounds) and you can end the tour on an isolated, beautiful beach, looking at one of the best sunsets you'll see.
