We can't say enough about this place - We were completely blown away from the moment we stepped inside - WOW.
The accommodation was spacious, a little apartment. Beautiful located in the midst of trees and nature. The coffee making facilities was the dream of a coffee nerd. Not to forget the marvelous bath tub with natural hot spring water. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back and stay longer.

They need to renovate and clean the room properly. There is an issue of black fungus in the rooms. Also, they told us there is a private onsen but it is public. They basically lied to us when we booked.

The onsen saved my trip. Most activities were canceled due to the bad weather so besides the onsen and the coffee my trip to Hakone wouldn’t have been positive.
Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

We had an exceptional stay at Goen no Mori. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a traditional onsen/ryokan experience. The food was also amazing and 100% plant-based, which makes this place a no-brainer for any vegans exploring Japan, like us. :)
The ambience of the place, we tried the kimonos and the onsen. The staff were very polite, arranged our food right on time and overall the place was clean. The shuttle service from hotel to station in the morning.
Newly refurbished.
The room was clean.
The bed and pillow were comfortable.
In-room hot spring bath.
Welcome drink. Free bottle of wine per night of stay.
Very good breakfast and dinner.
Staff were polite, friendly, helpful and attentive.
The hotel environment is very nice and the owner is very welcoming. I enjoyed the dinner in the hotel but the dinner time was too long. The open hot spring in the hotel was very comfortable and the kids loved it
I liked the location and the comfort that the property provided. The hot springs were amazing, the staff was nice and helpful and the room was cozy and comfortable.
Very warm family that hosted us. It was our first experience at an onsen ryokan and we enjoyed both meals and onsen dips. The staff were very welcoming. They offered to pick us up from the nearest station (Yugawara Station). Don’t forget to purchase the mandarin oranges from the uncle near the ryokan! Really fresh and sweet. This place also seemed to be popular with locals, we were lucky enough to have the entire onsen to ourselves that night!
