Guests at Yudanaka Hotel can recline in a variety of healing public hot spring baths, or relax in the sauna or hot tub.
The room was much bigger than I anticipated, and in a Japanese style (with tatami) so I was pleasantly surprised. The onsen in the hotel was an absolute delight. It had several baths with different temperatures, a lounge space, a sauna, a cold bath (which can be rare), and of course everything needed to wash yourself thoroughly before going into the baths. The hotel also provides body towels as well as face towels, so you don't need to bring yours. They have lockers to keep your items safe while bathing. There's free breakfast (little pieces of bread + some juice and coffee/tea) and a space on the first floor to relax after the onsen for example. It has wifi there as well.

The owners were so accommodating and nice. I only wish I had ordered the breakfast and dinner experience. My loss. The opportunity to spend a couple nights in such a special place was so memorable. They also volunteered to drive me to Snow Monkey Park and the Grandfather insisted on blustery snow morning to drive me to very short way to train station and even offers to help me get train ticket if needed. Couldn’t ask for nicer people. Only wish I had more time.. Quite too. Can’t say enough. You won’t be disappointed, but order food at. Reservation or go to local Micasa Japanese neighborhood restaurant. Not fancy but delicious and relaxing. Get the local Shiga Kogen Porter with whatever you have and enjoy❣️👍

We loved staying at this Ryokan, Located Close by to a station and a couple minute walk to a lawsons and some bars and restaurants. The place overall was very tidy and our hosts went out of their way to communicate with us and make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. They even offered us a lift to the snow monkey park(We didn’t end up going but the gesture was lovely) They have free snow gear to borrow if you are going up the mountain which was a bonus. The Onsens, though smaller were quite nice. I would definitely stay here again:)

The service as this Ryokan was 10/10, and was the most authentic one we stayed in during our 4 weeks in Japan. The staff were so lovely, and spoke great English. They showed us to our room, and gave us essentially a "room tour" whilst we drank complimentary tea. They gave us a map with nearby restaurants and ammenties noted on it. The private outdoor onsen was SO nice! You book a slot upon arrival, which you can access in the evening with 30 min slots. The onsen was large and the perfect contrast with the fresh cool air in the evening. Yukatas were provided for us as an option to wear around the hotel - both my partner and I are bigger than the average Japanese person (Wife is plus size, I am 6ft 2) and we both comfortably fit into the ones picked out for us. The only thing that threw us was that during breakfast, they cleared the beds from our room - had we known people would go in, we'd probably have neatened the room a bit haha! P.S don't skip the sushi restaurant a few doors down from the hotel. The sushi was EXQUISITE and they even have a phonetic Japanese to English page at the front so you can have a go at ordering properly with the chef.

The hosts were really kind and helpful in every respect picking up or dropping off at the station. The breakfast and evening meal were delicious examples of traditional Japanese food. The two onsens were the best we have used in Japan especially after a really cold day outside on the mountain. The beds were really comfy and cosy even in cold weather. Loved all the other little touches.
