Older style Japanese hotel which has past it's heyday. But very clean. Our room was huge. The dinner was fantastic, and the onsen baths lovely. The staff were very helpful in telling us about buses to Oirase Stream, as we wanted to walk the stream. The hotel is very close to the lake and shrine.
Situated just 10 km from Lake Towada, Towadako Hostel features accommodation in Towada with access to a terrace, a bar, as well as a shared kitchen.

The staff was very nice and helpful, great accommodation with character. Previous reviews are wrong and misleading, the cleanliness is very acceptable. The free breakfast and bikes were a nice addition.

The interior is a little dated and the rooms a bit retro, but it is very quiet, inexpensive, has beautiful surroundings, and a great selection of onsen. In the evening I used the outdoor onsen and enjoyed the full moon. The next morning I used the indoor and met some friendly locals.
Drive Inn Keigetsu is set in Towada, 3.5 km from Tsuta Hot Spring. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Oirase River is only a minute's stroll from the property. The rooms include a TV.

Good view of the river. Nearest bus stn for JR Tohoku is Yakeyama bus stn. Highly recommended to book breakfast and dinner as there are no restaurants open for dinner ard that area. No combini ard too.Food served is great. They have 1 ofuro at basement.
Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.
The room is large and comfortable. There is a hot spring to soak in. The sales department in the hotel has a wide selection and you can buy many local souvenirs.
I think it’s the most beautiful and charming hotel we stayed at so far! The rooms and onsen are just stunning, traditional looking but extremely clean and well maintained. The women’s bath is incredible, very high ceiling and you get the impression to go back in time a few centuries.
The staff was exceptional, making us feel very welcome and comfortable, so friendly and helpful. The food was michelin standard, and the ryokan is basically in the middle of a beautiful forest - everything was perfect!! Thank you so much!

This Ryokan has one of the best hot spring water in Japan. It’s our fourth time to come visit here, and I always cannot appreciate enough everything about this Ryokan. Best Onsen, food is fabulous and staff members are super kind. We will surely come back as always.
Location is great. Onsen is spacious. Outdoor onsen is good. Restaurant serves reasonably priced food. Nice Japanese style room with futons and yukata.
