Is a very good place to stay. They have private small onsen, it is good enough. I drove there and there's parking for me too. It's quite a distance if you walk to the centre tho. Driving is fine.

The food was excellent and they served it Kaiseki style. Very seafood heavy meals. The private onset were incredibly cute. Shuttle to and from the bus station and the Yubakate was convenient. Would 100% stay again

This place is set in a lovely green and quiet part of Kusatsu Onsen. We took the taxi up from the bus station, because we had read the hill was quite steep. The taxi was only 600 Yen and well worth it because the entire area is hilly and we would not have been able to push our heavy luggage up. We loved the quiet surroundings, the comfy beds and the spacious kitchen and kitchen table. Sitting on the patio and listening the the rustling leaves and birds was also calming. The onsen was amazing and squeaky clean, but initially very hot. We left the window open at night and it cooled down enough to have a nice soak. The place is huge and can easily fit in a group of friends or two families. There were 4 bedrooms, plus extra tatamis. The living room is spacious and I can see how this could be a great place for a weekend getaway for people looking to escape the hectic pace of Tokyo. There are 2 supermarkets in town, the best one being the one close to the bus station. The centre of Kusatsu onsen is about 10 minutes away on foot. We loved eating at the restaurants there. Some are very down to earth places that only serve a couple of dishes, others are very fancy. Kusatsu is a special place with it's outdoor foot baths, public onsens scattered round town, nature walks, temples and delicious food. Highly recommended!

The staff was amazing and kind. They say is down when they noticed we were tired from walking, and helped us check in. Rooms were amazing, and the private onsen was lovely.

Looking for a property with onsen?

Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. They speak fluent Chinese (I think the owner might be Chinese) Parking onsite and rooms were very large. Recommended some good site seeing options Breakfast service was very good. When we stayed I think we were the only ones on some of the days so got table service rather than the buffet. The view from the window was really good. It is really cheap :D I didn't use the onsen but my partner did and he really enjoyed it. Said it was clean and well maintained.

We’ve stayed at many ryokan since living in Japan for two years and this was one of our favorites! It’s a pretty property run by the 15th generation owner. We had a very large room and a private dining room but the ryokan was not very large, so it didn’t feel crowded. The meals are beautiful and healthier than other ryokan as they serve The freshest vegetables from nearby farms and cook it in a “modern furnace”. They also include all you can drink sake, beer and wine with dinner! The onsen were also wonderful.

This hotel is amazing. The food is delicious, I was really surprised by the dinner and the breakfast. For dinner, we had Sukiyaki and the meat was excellent. I couldn't try the new open onsen because it wasn't finished yet but I'm sure it will only increase the appeal of this hotel when it's finished.

The location: forest at the base of the volcano Mt Asama , remote , and cool. if you're into golfing this is the place for you. Tennis courts and hiking trails are available as well. The onsen and jakuzzi were great.

It's next to a golf course but had a relaxed vibe. The room was very comfortable and I liked the view. The onsen was great, particularly the aerated bath and the rotemburo with views of Mt Asama. Breakfast was a buffet, which I prefer as I have dietary restrictions.
