My stay was fantastic! The location was stunning, and the rooms were both tidy and spacious. Our host was incredibly kind and helpful, even allowing us to check in earlier than expected. Since it's a small town and many places close around 4:30 PM, the host went above and beyond by offering us a ride to Seven Waterfall, ensuring we didn’t miss out on the experience. They drove us to the perfect spot, and without their help, we likely would have missed it. Truly a memorable stay.

The house, which is a large, two story old building that was likely originally for a two-generation family, is beautiful inside. The first floor has two large tatami rooms next to a hallway with large windows. There are futons in the closets for extra guests. It also has a spacious kitchen/living room with a comfortable small sofa and large wooden table that could easily accommodate 6 or more people. The bathtub is large and stone, with onsen water. It takes a while to fill up, but is a lovely experience to enjoy.
Upstairs is another kitchen/living room area that is L shaped. In the living-room end, four beds are laid out (two were pushed together to make one large bed). They are incredibly comfortable with warm feather comforters. There is an additional tatami room with a large bed and a small room where one could telework with another wrap-around sofa and a small wooden table. The internet is spotty in the town itself, but fast in the house. Outside is a lovely hinoki foot bath for two people.
Outside is a large kawazuzakura (sakura) tree in the parking area, which means that you can enjoy the flowers without having to even go to the riverside! It is truly just steps away from the house. We were very grateful for the excellent location, as most travelers stayed in ryokan farther away from this central location, and perhaps as a result, the area became more sparce in the late afternoon/early evening. This allowed us to enjoy the cherry blossoms along the avenue by the road to the fullest. Despite being right next to a road where lots of tourists pass, it is very quiet in the house, and at night (by 9PM) the roads are almost completely devoid of both cars and people.
The house is extremely clean. There are a few small areas, like the bathroom sink, that look less clean, but this is just because the house itself is old, and should not cause anyone concern.

What an experience! We stayed at Mizumari during our honeymooon and I can honestly say we have never felt more welcomed, relaxed, and cared for than we did at Mizumari.
Taiyo and his staff are truly incredible and work to meet your every need. For example, when we arrived, we mentioned a specific drink that we had enjoyed on our trip. The next day, Taiyo had sent someone to find the item and served it to us in several different forms. Everyone was so attentive and kind, and we were incredibly sad to leave!
The food is incredible and plentiful- the best we had in Japan. We really loved the fresh and creative nature of the food, with a nice mix of seafood and meat dishes including locally sourced foods. The courses keep on coming so be sure to save space! We also appreciated that the staff was very helpful in recommending drinks pairings that go with the meal (and which are included in the booking price).
The space was recently rennovated and has a very clean and modern look. We stayed in room 1, which has a large living room, separate bedroom and a patio overlooking the creek with a gorgeous and large onsen tub fed by the hotsprings. The entire space feels very private and quiet. The location is also great, a few steps away from the start of the seven waterfalls hike (which we loved- we had it all to ourselves when we went around 10am), and only a 20minute drive from the coast, where there is limitless hiking and exploring.

No complaints! Parking is right next to property ( just need to follow the sign). They let us check in early with a short notice as it was just way too hot for any activity. They prompted helped us with hot water. The room and the place is very clean! The lounge is very aesthetic!
Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

The house is traditional style and amazing, you can enjoy the private Onsen. The room is comfortable. I was the only guest that day so the host took me to the seven waterfalls by car. So kind. Thank you
Everything was positive about this ryokan! Staff were extremely friendly. The onsen bath in your private balcony was fantastic, having the luxury of enjoying onsen in your room. They also had two private onsen rooms which you can book to use for free!
We stayed for two nights and had kaiseki for dinner both nights, which were amazing as well. It was truly an unforgettable experience staying here.
The owner is humble, helpful, polite, kind, respectful, generous man. He gave us a ride to the 7 waterfalls as well he gave us a ride back to the train station because it was pouring rain on the day of our departure. The suit we stayed at was traditional Japanese and we had a private onsen just for us 2 on request. It was magical experience. The owner shared with us his fruits from his garden. Unique experience the best in Japan. We wish him all the very best and long and happy life.
The view from the hotel was amazing, all the staff were very friendly , and went over and above as it was my partners 30th they gave us a free room upgrade and helped me organise a cake for the room on her birthday. The Japanese restaurant was very nice (reasonably priced) as we were only there for two days we did not eat in the french reteraunt outwith breakfast but breakfast had a nice selection which was quite varied, the hot springs were a nice touch to this resort style hotel
Very charming and cosy. Authentic japanese atmosphere. Tatamis room is PERFECTLY CLEAN, as well as bedding. View on the ocean. Fridge, TV, kettel, tea set.WONDERFUL 2 private ONSEN, indoor and outdoor, each one different. Delicious japanese Breakfast. Free wifi. Owner speaks a little english and is very helpfull. A must go .
This hidden gem offers an unforgettable onsen experience that is beautifully exposed to the natural surroundings. Soaking in the soothing hot springs while surrounded by the serene beauty of the outdoors is truly a remarkable experience. The combination of a generous, delectable meal, the kindness of Taiyo-San, and the rejuvenating onsen experience makes this place a five-star retreat for those seeking an all-encompassing and unforgettable taste of Japanese hospitality and nature's embrace.
