Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

Haiya Ryokan Hotel is an exceptional property. Its beautiful and traditional facility is complimented by the exceptional service from all staff. The rooms are quiet, very clean and elegant. Most enjoyable is the Onsen bath. I would highly recommend.
We were delighted with our visit. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. It was one of three onsens we visited, and I must say it was as good as the others, which were more expensive. They were also very good about meeting us at the station with their limo bus. Very enjoyable.
The onsen was lovely. I was the only person who was there at that time as the hotel was not busy. I enjoyed walking the grounds of the hotel in the evening. It was very pleasant.
the onsen baths were nice. the location was convenient. It was quiet in the room. We had a non smoking room but could smell smoke sometimes coming from the hallway or another room.
The onsen was beautiful and just like in the pictures! There was a perfect view of the full moon in the outdoor bath, too. They also had old NES game systems and lots of games! We really enjoyed that.
