The room was newly renovated and spacious and great view of the lake. Near to the forest walk which was great and the ferry terminal. Quiet though as it was off peak but it was a great break. You get access to the sister property for the onsen which i did not do it but I think it will be good too.

Amazing view from our room. Our room was located in the Shangri-la block. Overall, the
hotel was well maintained and very clean. The staff were very polite and hospitable right from the entrance to the lobby. After unloading our luggage at the entrance, drivers were led to park at an open space a short distance from the hotel. A hotel van ferried all drivers back to the hotel. Complimentary coffee (machines) and sweets (shaped like the marimo) were provided at the lobby. The ID of the room could be dated to some, it was in tip top condition. Only minor wear and tear. Our futons were made in the evening. Our room was spacious, we slept very well. Do not miss taking a dip in the rooftop while enjoying the view and the music playing in the air. The water was lukewarm. I enjoyed the pool early in the morning while it was less crowded. It was a common pool for male and female guests. Orange tops and shorts were available at the spa. Great that the hotel is only 5 min walk from the Kamui Lumina Night walk.
Overall, we had a pleasant and comfortable stay. A great choice in the Lake Akan area. Would love to stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights in a large, comfortable Japanese style room with pretty forest views. Amazing dining room, which felt as if we were dining amoung the trees. Beautiful, quiet indoor & outdoor onsen.
Best of all, great communication beforehand from the hotel re food (they're off the beaten track!) They produced an AMAZING vegetarian meal for us, which felt really special
The service was excellent. Lovely buffet breakfasts.
Really great value for money - highly recommended!

Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

Little onsen in the room with view to the river and wild deer visiting
Japanese kaiseki dinner and Japanese style breakfast was very tasty and a great experience
3 different private Onsen
What an amazing location ! My bedroom had an amazing view on the river and I regularly saw some deers hanging around ! The private onsen is such a luxury and the bedroom was overall clean and confortable ! There is a free shuttle that regularly brings you to Akan Lake which is really convenient if you don’t have a car. A special thank to the driver who was always on time, very helpful and caring. He was the only one in the staff who was customer-oriented and embodied the service of a 5star hotel.
-The staff is friendly, even we are late for dinner, still they are flexible and make changes based on our need
-The private hot spring in bathroom has both body hot spring and foot hot spring options, very good
- There have ramen supper session, very considerate for those who eat early dinner
- I can see deer outside the room
Food was excellent, so beautifully presented and interesting, I loved the views and the private onsen in the room, the room was beautiful and very comfortable. My stay was very enjoying and relaxing.
Fantastic ryokan overlooking the lake. We had a huge room with a private onsen and fabulous floor to ceiling lake views from the windows. (It is worth paying extra for the lake view.) The room was spotless and so well equipped, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Dinner was exceptional and served in a private dining room. It was an amazing experience.
The ryokan was very close to the bus station, so it was easy to reach without a car. We used the bus from Kitami and the local bus to Kushiro Station.
