Red Cedars Motel 3 stars

Canberra

Red Cedars Motel is a 2-minute walk from the Exhibition Park and a 10-minute walk from Watson Shopping Centre. It offers barbecue facilities and free on-site parking.

Motel Red Cedars is a 5-minute drive from Dickson Shopping Centre and 7 km from central Canberra. It is 2.5 km from Canberra Racecourse and Canberra Visitors’ Centre. Questacon is 9.5 km away. The reception staff were really lovely to deal with. My hotel room was presented to a very high standard. There was everything one could ask for, including a TV, iron and ironing board, a microwave, cutlery, a table and chairs, an outdoor area with a little garden. The air conditioning worked well, as it needed to! The hotel is located in the northern ACT suburb of Watson, not far from the Federation Highway, but far enough away that the room was really quiet. While I was in Canberra I went to the National Portrait Gallery, which is easy to get to from the Hotel. There is a collection of photographs of indigenous people, including the recently deceased Archie Roach. The funniest portrait is the woman in the leather jacket with her fingers pointing to her ears. This portrait is ironically called The Vegan In The Leather Jacket. Also there is an excellent portrait of Senator Patrick Dodson. (Permission was given to take pictures). I strongly recommend a trip up to Mount Ainslie both during the day and at night, where you receive a magnificent view of Canberra.
