Perfect place to stay! Best accomodation we had, not only on the North Island but in total during our 5 weeks NZ trip on both islands!
The room was nicely furnitured, the amenities around were awesome - Swiss firering for BBQ with free Marshmallows, a jaccuzi to watch the stars at night, a Treetop bath-house with rainforrest view, a couple of nice and exciting walks through the rainforest, natural pools in the river and even glowworms at night. The pictures don't lie - reality is even better!
And for those who still wanted to leave the premises during their stay (which would not be necessary as you've literally got everthing there already to spend some relaxing days), they also borrow spades to dig holes in the Hot water beach and also had some great recommendations on what to do when.
Will definitely book again if we're in the area!
Te Puru

Gorgeous view, spotlessly clean and best of all the most gracious hosts Christine and Drew.
Taupo
Boasting a terrace and room service, Hare's Rest is attractively set in Taupo, 31 km from Orakei Korako Cave and Thermal Park and 31 km from Orakei Korako - The Hidden Valley. This lodge has a garden, barbecue facilities, free WiFi and free private parking. Honestly, this is the best booking I've ever experienced. Comes with access to 8 acres of land, homemade bread & cookies, and fresh eggs. The room is lovely and Allie was really nice to introduce us to her sheep and chicken.

Ideally located just 5 minutes' drive from Whitianga town centre, WoodyHanger Lodge features views over Mercury Bay and is just metres away from native bush. It boasts an outdoor pool with bay views. Free WiFi is offered. breakfast was very good . the location is spectacular. Views of Mercury bay are stunning

Featuring an on-site tennis court, The Flying Trout Boutique Lodge is located in Taupo. Each spacious suites offers elegant décor and some provide views of the surrounding alpine area. Guests enjoy free WiFi and free breakfast daily. Flying trout boutique lodge is one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in the world . We had a lovely suite upstairs with a panoramic view of lake Taupo . Breakfast is wonderful and Karen will insure you are pleased with everything served . Rob is helpful with area info and a few nights he drive us in to town for dinner . We would definitely stay at this charming lodge again - treat yourself if you are in lake Taupo

Waitomo is a motor lodge and has no breakfast facility, however Bosco Cafe across the road was very good. I would describe Waitomo as more up scale rustic as motor lodges go. The room is large and spacious and includes nice skin care products. The staff was very nice and asked if we required additional items. Paid laundry on the premises was great.
This is an amazingly peaceful oasis, where you can chill out and enjoy the beauty of nature. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed much longer. The facilities are brilliant and the lodges spacious and clean. If you like the great outdoors, you will love it
