And it is just that, an experience, not simply a place to drop your bags. Matt and Daniela are building a luxurious retreat for adventure seekers who want tranquility, comfort and companionship. The sleek modern design accentuates the location perched on the edge of the mountain (and I do mean perched, the drive up in their four wheel vehicle is not for the faint of heart!). The common spaces encourage mingling but also provide corners to be with your loved one and contemplate the breathtaking scenery. We were only there one night, booked at the last minute, and I regretted not staying longer. As others have noted Matt and Daniela are not finished, but for me that added to the sense of being part of the family. This retreat has so much potential I am dying to see where they end up! Practically speaking; the food is excellent (no more bandeja for me!)- Daniela offered us three choices at dinner , all of which looked excellent. Wine flows,beers are cold, the dining area is gorgeous. Matt even designed the glass topped tables with living plants underneath. Oh, the plants! They are EVERYWHERE. No TV either, thank heaven. Board games if you want, and internet if you must. They are not in Jardin proper, believe me once you get to their place you won’t want to leave- although Matt is happy to drive you down if you want. Matt organized a great coffee tour to Finca El Choco, a steep, muddy, short hike through the coffee plants to the finca, guided by Carolina, and Daniela came with us to translate. I felt like I made two new friends just on that outing! I could go on and on and on. Just visit. Go there and see for yourself. You will be so glad you did. We’re going back next year and bringing all of our friends, so book quick before we take over the place! Ps my husband and I are 50 something world travelers, used to luxury but open to anything. This place was perfect for us.

Offering pool views, Casa Campo Emaus in Caucasia offers accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, a garden, a terrace and a restaurant. The place is really nice, clean and well treated. You can see the people who live/work there really like what they’re doing. I was warm welcomed and felt family hospitality immediately. I can recommend staying there for a stopover (as i did) but as well for an unwinding vacation…

With Piedra del Peñol reachable in 2 km, Sotavento Cabañas features accommodation, a restaurant, a garden, a terrace and a bar. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. Loved everything here. We had delicious lunch when we arrived and breakfast was also delicious. I loved that we could just message them in Whatsapp to order. Rooms are super clean and have everything you will need and there was a porch and terrace with a gorgeous view. The best part was the service though. The owner helped us to get anything we needed and a reliable taxi on our way to the airport.

Situated in Jerico and 54 km from Medellín, Cabañas y Flores features pet-friendly accommodation, a year-round outdoor pool, a flower-surrounded environment and views of the mountain. We had a wonderful stay at Finca Cabanas y Flores. The owners, Mario and Dione, are wonderful warm hosts. And Sergio is always there to take care of you! We loved the location of the Finca. It’s a short 15 minute walk into town, but seems like a world away from your cabin in the hills overlooking Jerico. After dinner in Jerico in the evening you can walk back (it’s very uphill!), or just catch a Tuk Tuk for 5,000 COP, about $1.25 USD. The views are stunning, especially from the breakfast patio, which is delicious and plentiful! The cabins themselves are lovely and comfortable. The bed was great, shower was hot, and it’s extremely quiet at all times as the location is far enough from the road. If you need wifi, the public areas have great coverage, but the 3G cell coverage is great so you can also use Wifi in your cabin using the iPhone hotspot. If you really need wifi in your cabin you get get great coverage for 10,000 COP per day, or $4 USD. You can’t go wrong staying at Cabanas y Flores!

Set in Guatapé in the Antioquia region, Cabañas Campestres Bosque Encantado offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. Piedra del Peñol is 5.8 km from the lodge. Sight from balcony is incredible!

Boasting a garden, a terrace, and a restaurant, PonteMonte Suite offers accommodation in Rionegro with free WiFi and mountain views. Nice view, great hot tub, clean house with bathrooms in almost every room.

Set 5.9 km from Piedra del Peñol, Elysium Glamping offers a garden, a terrace and air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. The accommodation has a spa bath. Cute space. Amazing views. Peaceful! Spacious.

With mountain views, ECO HOTEL RIO DE ORO is set in San Rafael and has a restaurant, a shared lounge, bar, garden and terrace. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. Possibly best place to stay in the Guatape. Remote but with good access opportunity even for a normal car. Place provides everything what you need. Cannot even praise the experience enough. Modern cabins with nice beds, great staff, fantastic food, crystal clear river, during our stay we did not have problems with the bucks. The river has the perfect temperature (not too hot and not too cold). You can even find a good spot in between two giant rocks for a long-distance swim. Pricey but worth every cent.

With Piedra del Peñol reachable in 31 km, Sendero del Rio Finca Hotel features accommodation, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace. A very nice hotel with luxuriant plants. Isabel was very nice and attentive. The location is good...a private area on the edge of town...only a 10 minute walk to the main plaza.

Located in San Rafael in the Antioquia region and Piedra del Peñol reachable within 26 km, Palagua Lodge provides accommodation with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a restaurant and free private parking. If your into witnessing beautiful natural settings while in a beautifully built and designed modern cabin with great service and attention to detail by a loving staff of people, than this a don’t miss. This is now my favorite location and glamping spot, with all the services of a fine hotel. The menu and quality of food was excellent as well.
