Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
The environment felt very unsafe at night. The walls of the rooms are so thin that one can hear every single sound from another room. Too much noise in the lodge. It felt like there were drug users in the premises. I actually checked out a day earlier to another hotel because i felt very unsafe.
Not to so good for travelling North wrong side of the motorway. We travelled from the South another road connection direct off the motorway to the lodge on the North bound would be more helpful. External facilities fuel, food etc handy.
Not to far from Bolton and useful as another way to get into Bolton via Horwich.
The Brittania Hotel in Bolton is located on the outskirts. The rooms are similar to what you would get if you have booked into a travelodge or Premier Inn. Not sure if they did prices cheaper if you booked further in advance. Parking was easy and check in was hassle free. The bed was comfortable and the room was airy as they left the window open with it being a warm day.
I've stayed in Rivington Lodge many, many times over the years. It's a cheap, budget hotel that will provide you with all the amenities you'd require. TV, kettle, tea and coffee, comfy beds, and a surprisingly nice bathroom. The location is ideal for people like me who often get very hungry late at night... it's a one-minute walk over to the Spar which is open 24/7. Overall, Rivington Lodge is worth the money, in my opinion. You get what you pay for!
To see the above mentioned dislikes changed or worked on. I informed the receptionist on the day i checked out that whenever I come to Bolton, I would come back and lodge in the hotel.
I’ve stayed at Rivington lodges before it’s located at the M61 Services which is handy for me to travel to my job based around Manchester area
