The Durban City sections that I went to were quite not crowded and I have felt safe wandering around day or night.
The area overall is neat and clean.
As I was on strict diet, I have brought along most of the foods and stuff that I needed.
But went to a local Sasol Filling Station just behind the hotel, Spar Supermarket, Shoprite and Pick & Pay.
Those shops are within a walking dinstance of less than 20 minutes.
Shop stuff were friendly and very helpful.

The stores(Malls) convenience and beach is literally few steps away. The views are amazing and the apartment sparkling clean and very modern.

Durban is a very nice and warm place, I was amazed by how friendly and helpful everyone was. This is the place I would definitely come back to. Used an Uber for moving around and it was so convenient, the longest time I waited was 3 minutes. Tried out pizza boys and their pizza was delicious. There were a lot of places to try out in Florida street.

I stayed here in celebration of my birthday. The place was nice and clean, wonderful view, and balcony, I am glad no animals were coming into the room :). They didn`t give us the Wi-Fi password and we didn`t check but I am guessing they have it as there was a router on the TV stand. The kitchen was very nice, my girlfriend loved it, the bathroom was perfect and clean, and the aircon was not working fine, but that was not a big deal since it was winter. Parking was easy to get to, safe with the guards 24/7

Let me start with the staff: they were not very friendly and need customer service training. The ceiling board was leaking, and we had to change rooms. There was no bathroom mat, and the rooms were small. Serious renovations are needed. The TV and air conditioning weren't working, and the Wi-Fi password was also not working .
The property was very neat and clean. The facilities were modern and had beautiful decoration. The agents were easy to reach and ensured to answer any queries within a minute. Their service is impeccable and they strive to make sure that your stay is as wonderful as you plan it to be. I love the fact that it was situated in the heart of Umhlanga and everything is a walk away, even the beach. I really enjoyed my stay here and I will always book with Oceans Umhlanga whenever I’m in Durban.
I like the stuff, from reception to the dining hall. the quietness of the hotel, privacy was granted.and also would like to thank Wandile who was very helpful waitering us without complaining and was very attending of us, the kids loved him as well and we're very happy n looking forward to coming back, thank you they spoke very highly of him to their grandmother, it was their first time in Durban but definitely will come back to gooderson Tropicana!!! 💃💃💃💃💃💃
Day staff were super friendly but rooms bathroom was moldy. No sheets on the bed except for an ill fitting flat sheet. No towels in the room. Aircon was also musty and not getting cold. Night staff were too busy on their private phones to help us with area queries or the sheet and towel issue. We will definitely not be staying at Royal Ushaka again. Second bad experience. First at Seaview Royal Ushaka and now at Durban North. Very Very DISSAPOINTED

I ended up extending my stay by an additional night and the 2 ladies that were on duty and handling my booking,absolutely took me by surprise and ultimately took my experience from a top 10 rating to a top 20 rating. Thank you for the patience, hospitality and the overview experience. Your hotel and staff would be the main reason I would return to Durban in general and over and above anything else.
Breakfast was exceptional, I can't remember the lady's name, but she came knocking at our door asking if they could bring it into the room since they were about to close, which was unexpected 👌🏾👌🏾 location... Next to South Beach, just opposite Ushaka and MSC embarking point which made it easier for us to get to the place since we were from the cruise... Staff was amazing, including the security guards
In a nutshell, the Marilyn Boutique Hotel is ideally located for businessmen or families having daily activities and needing a comfortable cozy room to rest in at night. The hotel´s location is brilliant and it gives you quick access to Durban and the surrounding areas. The hotel decor is beautiful and I personally appreciate my stays every time I am in South Africa.
I loved how central this hotel is. Very close to the beach and also very close to gateway Mall. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance and there is also a mall next to the hotel but accessible through a pathway connected to the hotel. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Durban
I was transferred from my Royal Hotel booking to coastlands in South Beach.
My expectations of the hotel were far from what i had purchased from the online booking. Mismatch.
To be fair, the staff was super friendly and I hold nothing against Coastlands. Buy Royal hotel did me dirty shame.
Everything here is amazing, from the helpful staff to the cleanliness. The hotel has so much space and caters to every age group. My kids really enjoyed their stay and we will definitely boo for Durban again
