The accommodations were superb. My room was not only clean and comfortable but also elegantly decorated, creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that all my needs were met promptly and with a smile.
One of the highlights of my stay was the accessibility to local attractions. Being so close to everything made it easy to explore and enjoy the surrounding area without the hassle of long commutes. Whether I wanted to enjoy a delicious meal or indulge in some retail therapy, everything was just a short walk away.

We had the great experience at Umhlanga Cabana Beach Resort.
We had the great experience at Umhlanga Cabana Beach Resort. I have to say Southern Sun never disappoints or at least according to my experience. Proper Value for Money. The stores(Malls) convenience and beach is literally few steps away. The views are amazing and the apartment sparkling clean and very modern.

Durban is a very nice and warm place, I was amazed by how friendly and helpful everyone was. This is the place I would definitely come back to. Used an Uber for moving around and it was so convenient, the longest time I waited was 3 minutes. Tried out pizza boys and their pizza was delicious. There were a lot of places to try out in Florida street.

I stayed here in celebration of my birthday.
I stayed here in celebration of my birthday. The place was nice and clean, wonderful view, and balcony, I am glad no animals were coming into the room :). They didn`t give us the Wi-Fi password and we didn`t check but I am guessing they have it as there was a router on the TV stand. The kitchen was very nice, my girlfriend loved it, the bathroom was perfect and clean, and the aircon was not working fine, but that was not a big deal since it was winter. Parking was easy to get to, safe with the guards 24/7

Let me start with the staff: they were not very friendly and need customer service training. The ceiling board was leaking, and we had to change rooms. There was no bathroom mat, and the rooms were small. Serious renovations are needed. The TV and air conditioning weren't working, and the Wi-Fi password was also not working .

We visited some exquisite restaurants, from Jack Salmons in La Lucia to Goundens curry place in Umbilo road. Both, highly recommended. We also tried Mali's Restaurant in Windermere too.
For the most part, self catering options allowed us to explore the fresh, readily available fantastic range of unusual local vegetables, produce and quality meats that are extremely economical in pricing compared to Joburg and Cape Town.
There are so many hidden gems if you know where to look.🥳
On the other hand, Town is a disappointment and online advertising of specials and places to see, is limited. Unless you know locals, you end up going to only what the Tourism Board advertises and in reality, some of the places are run down, badly managed, or derelict.
The beaches are not what they used to be. I am originally from Durban and I was heartsore to see how badly managed it is. There are great improvements and construction going on for the roads, but the heavy congestion and re-routing prevents you from exploring many areas of interest. The Workshop - which was a famous mall, is now an unkempt eye sore. Sad how many beautiful buildings and businesses have been destroyed through lack of respect and maintenance.
As we drove through town, it was sad 😔 There is little respect for rules of the road and you need to be extra vigilant, as cars keep driving through red robots without consideration for other vehicles. I would highly recommend being extra careful. 🙏🏼
Durban is the one city in SA, that has the most potential, Beautiful weather, amazing history, great museums and wonderful cultures. It is doing them a disservice, by not giving local businesses the boost they need.
No one wants to spend a holiday in a fancy mall. They would do brilliantly, if they allowed all people, of all cultures to contribute meaningfully to the development of this once beautiful city.❤️
The room was exceptional and clean with all the amenities you could possibly want. Staff are seen working hard from keeping the stairs clean to cleaning the light fittings in the hallways. Breakfast was excellent. I'm not sure if Belaire has changed management or ownership, but i have stayed there before, and the hotel has really stepped up their accommodation and services since my previous stays. This, in my opinion, is the best hotel to stay at if you must stay at the durban Beachfront area.
The hosts, Robyn and Steve were amazing! Greeted us with a warm welcome upon our arrival, and made us feel at home immediately. The room(s) and facilities are very well-kept, clean, and are organised with any essentials that you might need. The area is very quiet. Tucked away in Durban North, it's well-located if you need to pop in and out of Durban for business, or even if you're looking at heading up north towards Umhlanga/Ballito for beach time.
Location, the beach the good around and service please note it's not your 5 star ⭐ hotel but I love going here because of the beach ⛱️ and food available around me, self catering everything u need for a 3 /4 day stay
Break away trip,couple retreat
The price n location is excellent,
Yes there are betters hotels in Umhlanga but the beach not good for swimming
The hotel is based on the southern end of the Durban beach front, this means it is not as popular as some of the other hotels. It certainly is value for money and you get exactly what you paid for. Breakfast was great and the staff very efficient and friendly.
Apartment is in perfect center walkable distance to oceans mall, restaurants, not far from durban central, peaceful place noise well controlled. Privacy on another level, beach near, swimming pool clean, security forever available and willing to help.
The hotel has a great breakfast and conveniently located near the beach and the Gateway Shopping Theatre. There is a great selection of restaurants within safe walking distance and overall it was a pleasant experience interacting with staff.
Great accommodation, central to umhlanga and all the good beaches. Pet friendly ! Which is a huge plus, as Durban lacks decent pet friendly accommodation. Each room/cottage even has its own little garden, patio and braai.
This is the best place at Umhlanga… the cycle and walking path along the ocean… a wide hotel with more then 16 restaurants around, two malls, one at the hotel and another, oceans mall, in front of the hotel
Staff was welcoming and cater for our needs ASAP. safe parking but was not mentioned during booking that there will be extra pay. Apartment is within the shops and near the beach.
The location of the hotel is central easy to access different locations as a 1st time visitor to Durban. The house keeper she was friendly and on point with her Job.
