The location is incredible as it is very close to the beach and right on a strip of restaurants, sadly the sound does carry into the rooms at night. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful at all times. Rooms were large and all seemed to have a sea view, coffee station available. We also called ahead to have our three separate bookings placed in rooms close together which they graciously accommodated.

We had the great experience at Umhlanga Cabana Beach Resort.
We had the great experience at Umhlanga Cabana Beach Resort. I have to say Southern Sun never disappoints or at least according to my experience. Proper Value for Money. The stores(Malls) convenience and beach is literally few steps away. The views are amazing and the apartment sparkling clean and very modern.

Durban is a very nice and warm place, I was amazed by how friendly and helpful everyone was. This is the place I would definitely come back to. Used an Uber for moving around and it was so convenient, the longest time I waited was 3 minutes. Tried out pizza boys and their pizza was delicious. There were a lot of places to try out in Florida street.

I stayed here in celebration of my birthday.
I stayed here in celebration of my birthday. The place was nice and clean, wonderful view, and balcony, I am glad no animals were coming into the room :). They didn`t give us the Wi-Fi password and we didn`t check but I am guessing they have it as there was a router on the TV stand. The kitchen was very nice, my girlfriend loved it, the bathroom was perfect and clean, and the aircon was not working fine, but that was not a big deal since it was winter. Parking was easy to get to, safe with the guards 24/7

Let me start with the staff: they were not very friendly and need customer service training. The ceiling board was leaking, and we had to change rooms. There was no bathroom mat, and the rooms were small. Serious renovations are needed. The TV and air conditioning weren't working, and the Wi-Fi password was also not working .

We visited some exquisite restaurants, from Jack Salmons in La Lucia to Goundens curry place in Umbilo road. Both, highly recommended. We also tried Mali's Restaurant in Windermere too.
For the most part, self catering options allowed us to explore the fresh, readily available fantastic range of unusual local vegetables, produce and quality meats that are extremely economical in pricing compared to Joburg and Cape Town.
There are so many hidden gems if you know where to look.🥳
On the other hand, Town is a disappointment and online advertising of specials and places to see, is limited. Unless you know locals, you end up going to only what the Tourism Board advertises and in reality, some of the places are run down, badly managed, or derelict.
The beaches are not what they used to be. I am originally from Durban and I was heartsore to see how badly managed it is. There are great improvements and construction going on for the roads, but the heavy congestion and re-routing prevents you from exploring many areas of interest. The Workshop - which was a famous mall, is now an unkempt eye sore. Sad how many beautiful buildings and businesses have been destroyed through lack of respect and maintenance.
As we drove through town, it was sad 😔 There is little respect for rules of the road and you need to be extra vigilant, as cars keep driving through red robots without consideration for other vehicles. I would highly recommend being extra careful. 🙏🏼
Durban is the one city in SA, that has the most potential, Beautiful weather, amazing history, great museums and wonderful cultures. It is doing them a disservice, by not giving local businesses the boost they need.
No one wants to spend a holiday in a fancy mall. They would do brilliantly, if they allowed all people, of all cultures to contribute meaningfully to the development of this once beautiful city.❤️

South beach used to be the cleanest beach now u are even scared to carry your phone, amaphara are every were sleeping by the beach. That's very scary, very dirty. Traditional healers do rituals in the beach. It is no longer healthy and clean
The sea views, how central the location is to the beach and all other amenities. Everything is within walking distance. The apartment is fully equipped for self catering, there is Netflix (we couldn’t access DSTV), Wi-Fi, all appliances including the air con were in good working condition. The decor is stunning. The sliding doors have great insulation, keeps the noise out from the busy city. You also have access to the pool at the Radisson Blu Hotel, nice. The restaurant at the hotel is also good.
The location was excellent. The b and b is situated in a safe area, and is in easy walking distance to the promenade if one does not mind an uphill return walk. Alternatively, just a few minutes away by car and free parking is available near the beachfront at Durban View Park. Also only a few kms away from the centre, with many restaurants and malls nearby. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. Ample secure parking is provided.
The hosts, Robyn and Steve were amazing! Greeted us with a warm welcome upon our arrival, and made us feel at home immediately. The room(s) and facilities are very well-kept, clean, and are organised with any essentials that you might need. The area is very quiet. Tucked away in Durban North, it's well-located if you need to pop in and out of Durban for business, or even if you're looking at heading up north towards Umhlanga/Ballito for beach time.
In a nutshell, the Marilyn Boutique Hotel is ideally located for businessmen or families having daily activities and needing a comfortable cozy room to rest in at night. The hotel´s location is brilliant and it gives you quick access to Durban and the surrounding areas. The hotel decor is beautiful and I personally appreciate my stays every time I am in South Africa.
Breakfast was excellent. Rooms are very clean and specious. Rooms with sea view are perfect. Zuki is a very friendly lady at the reception. The place is next to South Coast casino and Ushaka Marine, We enjoyed with the family to be in this hotel. We looking forward to come back.
Great location near the beach. Well furnished, with comfy beds and couches. Unit had everything we needed. Air conditioners worked great which is a great extra for the Durban heat. The domestic worker was also friendly and efficient.
The location was absolutely amazing, we could not have gotten better for what we were looking for for our time in Umhlanga - all of the restaurants/bars/shops all walking distance. The aircon worked amazingly in the Durban humidity.
The location is good but the noise from the traffic is a bit of a distraction .
The facility is fresh and the price is good.
The facility is close to the Durban CBD. It was 3Ks from the ICC, this was very convenient.
This is the best place at Umhlanga… the cycle and walking path along the ocean… a wide hotel with more then 16 restaurants around, two malls, one at the hotel and another, oceans mall, in front of the hotel
The hotel is near the beach and the mall, I like that and i have seen there are building another mall next to the hotel so yes that went well. The staff was nice and helpful. We enjoy staying there.
I enjoy my trip to stay at 10 south hotel room 802 it's clean nice view beach nice kitchen air conditioner working 100% I enjoy with my family, l will came back before end of this year 👌
Hospitality was okay and fantastic and the stuff was so friendly and helpful and the hotel is very clean including the breakfast is so yummy l like the hotel is near the beach
