Hotels near Strandveld Museum, Gansbaai

The location is second to none, incredible ocean and mountain vistas almost wherever you look, but what really made this experience something special are the staff, they are attentive, engaging and friendly. What really struck me about the staff is how much they actually care about your experience, always asking “can I help you with x” or “we can do y if that’s better for you” etc without skipping a beat!

This is a very large, well appointed cottage, with the most beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding farm and fynbos.

Great location if you are planning for cage dive. Most cage dive operators are about 1km away. Excellent service and includes a complete English breakfast. Staff are super friendly and accommodating.

Although sadly we weren't able to meet Nicola as her son was unwell, she was an excellent host, giving us clear communications via WhatsApp. We had gone to Gansbaai to shark cage dive, & when our operator was unable to sail, Nicola was able to secure us places on another boat, which we were very grateful for, as we were only in Gansbaai for one day. She also upgraded us to their premium suite which she did not have to do, but it was a lovely touch.

What an amazing find! Some of our group of 8 wanted to enjoy shark cage diving and we came across Benguela and struck lucky. The whole atmosphere is one of relaxed sophistication, with beautiful and quirky decoration and artwork. The bedrooms lead out on to a pool area, which is quite intimate, but was not a problem as our group had taken the rooms. There is a stocked fridge in the room and the shower has plenty of power. The real Gem of this place is Jonathan and his team. We opted to join for dinner which was the most amazing experience at the big, shared table. The experience started with gathering in the lounge for drinks and meeting the couple of other guests, then moving into the incredible dining room for a 5-course banquet, complete with paired wines. All the time being entertained by Jonathan and his very friendly hounds. Breakfast the next day was of course both tasty and beautifully presented. We had a couple of other requests. Like borrowing some towels and checking out later – all of which were kindly met with pleasure from our very accommodating host. We would be very happy to stay again…… you can book for the dinner even if you are not staying. Highly recommended.

It was a great stay; even went out to dinner with the owner. I only had time to stay 1 night, but plan to come back when I'm in the region.
