My family and friend groups have been coming to the Buellton...
My family and friend groups have been coming to the Buellton/Santa Ynez/Solvang area for wine tasting and events for 30 years. I have been a member of many wineries over the years and love spending time in the area. Favorite wineries include Foxen, Lincourt, Firestone, Brickbarn, Beckman & Brander. We love to eat at Brothers at the Red Barn and Industrial Eats. The Figueroa Mountain Brewery and Firestone Brewery are great places to eat and usually have live music as well. I also love to visit the Clairmont Lavender Farm and buy Olive Oil from Olive Hill.

Buellton is a small town just off HWY 101.
Buellton is a small town just off HWY 101. The advantage of staying in Buellton is that it's in the center of Santa Barbara's wine country. There are vineyards with wine tasting nearby, and a variety of restaurants, Solvang, a Danish-style village, is 3 miles east of Buellton and Lompoc is about 12 miles west, where you can visit La Purisima Mission. Established in 1787, it is the most extensively restored mission in the state, restored to the 1820's mission era.

We visited the Ostrich Farm ($7 entrance, $1 to feed them), they have a nice gift shop too. AJ's is a nice restaurant for a large portions, down home cooked meal. For quilters, there is a fun quilt store that I enjoy when in Buellton. It's just minutes from Solvang where there is nice shopping, and great pastries, and the Elverhøj Museum of History & Art that is interesting. Of course, there are many places to try wines.

Buellton is the perfect place to explore the San Ynez Valley. Incredibly, there are several towns, just a few minutes apart, with distinctly different vibes. There are dozens of wineries just minutes apart. I wish I had time to name each town, the restaurants, wineries and experiences I had in a too short amount of time, but trust me! I wish I’d stayed longer .

Buellton tends to be overlooked for Solvang but Solvang...
Buellton tends to be overlooked for Solvang but Solvang hotel prices are vastly higher and is only about a 10-minute drive from Buellton. You've still got easy access to restaurants in both Buellton and Solvang, the shops in Solvang, and gas stations + a major grocery store in Buellton. Why pay higher prices for Solvang when you can stay at nice places in Buellton?
I thought the location was fine, until I noticed on my bill I was charged a BOOKING FEE! $96.00 for a "cheap" room! This is the first time I have encounter this, so BE CAREFUL! I did not see anything telling me about this fee until AFTER it was booked. I assume this is some is an arrangement the hotel has made with BOOKING.com.
Nice location in Buellton and great accommodations for those who do not have an RV - the Surf Cabin is very comfortable and cozy- the large pass through window from Kitchen to front porch a bonus!
