    What a view!

What a view! We were only able to view the canyon from the west rim (Colton Point State Park) since Leonard Harrison State Park was closed for "renovations." We wish we could have seen the view and hiked some trails in Leonard Harrison State Park. The covered wagon trip in the gorge was quite enjoyable and as far as we were concerned, worth the money.

We were about the only people there.

We were about the only people there. It would probably be a better place to visit at another time of the year. We were there after most of the autumn leaves had fallen. We saw sunset at the state park, which sits high on the edge of the canyon on the north end, but the park buildings were pretty much closed for the season. We stayed the night in the pretty little town of Wellsboro, and then we drove along the river in the morning using route 414 and 44. We did not see a moving car or any other people the whole drive. To be fair, it looks like it would be a nice place to canoe or hike in the right season. It was just too cold for us to spend much time. It was recommended in a Washington Post article and I like to explore in an effort to Try2SeeItAll. My advice is, "don't compare it to any other truly grand canyons; just think of it as Pine Creek Gorge, and you will enjoy yourself."
