The location is perfect. An oasis within the desert. Old grand hotel style from 1927 well preserved and updated to todays standards. Unique and impressing. Star gazing at night possible on roof top. Pool area sourced by natural well. This hotel is worth a stop and even an extra trip if you want to enjoy a nice overnight in the middle of the Death Valley while not missing high standards. This hotel is above average and a true gem.

Don't plan on hiking unless it's early in morning or in winter. Lots to see from your air conditioned car while occasionally getting out. Was more impressed with the scenery than I thought I would be. Pay attention to all the colors of the rocks.

Lots to see-Bad Water, Artist's
drive, sand dunes, etc. Even after five years, Scotty's Castle is still closed-If Disney ran the place it would have taken six months! Some of the pit toilets at major stops were "out of order"-for lack of service. Severall other things to see were closed during our visit due to recent storms. In other words, a typical US National Park.
