excellent value for money with extremely helpful staff. If ever we needed advice on local sightseeing, taxis or luggage storage, nothing was too much trouble .
We stayed on three separate occasions on a near three week trip to Peru and had two different rooms. Both were quirky, one with a beautiful balcony.

Regarded as the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and its historical capital, none of these things are enough to describe the magic enchainment and colourful people of Cusco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites. A good example is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
Must see places include the walled complex of ‘Sacsayhuamán’, and the remains of the main temple of ‘Coricancha’, dedicated to the Sun God ‘Inti’. For longer Cusco stays, hotels near ‘Plaza de Armas’ central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 3400-metres altitude, some Cusco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.

Cusco is a wonderful city, however, you grow tired of the...
Cusco is a wonderful city, however, you grow tired of the constant street sellers trying to sell you something. There are a thousand shops and they all sell something similar to each other. You can walk around a couple of markets over a couple of days but then you're done with it all and become bored.
If you visit Cusco, try to plan things to do, ie visit museums, visit choloate shops and see how chocolate is produced and made. Go on excursions out of the city. There are ruins on the outskirts of the city and some fantastic walks up to the statue of Jesus and other places.
There are some fantastic places to eat, but again, pick where you're going and go there, ignore the people showing you menus on the street. Pricewise, everything is cheap. You're looking at around £10-£20 for a huge meal and drink, or you can get street food for pence. Drinks are cheap too.
If you go during a festival or something, expect the main square to be rammed with people. I visited during Corpus Christi and the crowds were so large that it took ages to walk anywhere and most the shops were closing due to being full. It was an experience, but one I wouldn't want again. In the three days I was there, we had Corpus Christi, a military parade and a 10k race. A LOT goes on!
Lastly, the airport. There are scammers everywhere, helping you with your bags and everything. A man shouted my name and the company I was with so I assumed he was the driver picking me up. He put my two suitcases, which had wheels, on a trolley and walked about 20m to the car that was collecting me and then wanted a tip. I gave him 4 Soles, about 85p and he wasn't happy. I'd already warned him that I had no cash and didn't want the help.

The tourist area is full of wonderful shopping.
The tourist area is full of wonderful shopping. This is the place to buy alpaca sweaters and other locally made goods. You can shop at actual stores but also in the San Pedro and lots of pop-up markets. Credit cards are widely accepted, but cash is preferred, of course. Great restaurants and mostly quite inexpensive. There seemed to be a lot of celebrations and some demonstrations, but nothing of which to be fearful. Take the tours in and near the city; you will learn a LOT and they are quite well-organized.

Cusco is a captivating destination that offers a blend of rich history, delicious cuisine, and stunning landscapes. One of the highlights of my trip to Cusco was definitely the ceviche. Served in many restaurants throughout the city, Cusco's ceviche is a delightful explosion of flavors, with fresh fish marinated in citrus juices and accompanied by vibrant herbs and spices. It's a must-try dish for any food enthusiast visiting the region.
Another aspect that impressed me about Cusco was the abundance of fresh produce. Whether strolling through local markets or dining in restaurants, I was constantly amazed by the variety and quality of fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients. The use of fresh, locally sourced products truly enhances the culinary experience in Cusco, adding authenticity and depth to every dish.
Beyond its culinary delights, Cusco is also home to fascinating Inca ruins that offer a glimpse into the ancient civilization that once thrived in the region. Exploring sites such as Sacsayhuamán, Machu Picchu, and Ollantaytambo was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The intricate stonework, breathtaking vistas, and intriguing historical significance of these ruins make them a must-visit for any traveler interested in unraveling the mysteries of the Inca Empire.
Overall, my time in Cusco was filled with unforgettable experiences, from savoring mouthwatering ceviche to marveling at ancient Inca ruins. It's a destination that seamlessly blends cultural heritage, culinary delights, and natural beauty, making it a truly remarkable place to explore.

Getting around Cusco was easy.
Getting around Cusco was easy. We are walkers and we love to see the typical markets and amazing museums. Its people are friendly and helpful. Any question was answered when we just ask anyone around. Restaurants? Mother of God! Delicious, too many options to choose from. From simple restaurants to fancy ones and the best: beautiful women in the street with cooked corn and pineapple slices to sale.

Cusco is one of my favorite cities in Peru.
Cusco is one of my favorite cities in Peru. It is a photographers dream, almost every you look there is a chance to take a wonderful travel photo while walking around, the old city is an absolute joy. No mater how long I have stayed in Cusco it has been too short and I always want to return to see things I have missed. However, it is a good idea to book a hotel which offers heat in the rooms as it can get rather chilly at night in the cold season.
This is a great hotel in the San Blas area and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the people so much that we extended our stay to 8 days. The rooms are perfect - very clean and well-furnished. The lobby is also a comfortable place to settle in and read a book while you drink tea or coffee.
There are lots of nice restaurants in the San Blas area. That said, you will get some good exercise walking down to the Plaza de Armas. If someone had walking difficulty it is possible that the San Blas area would not be their first choice.
I traveled with my boyfriend who was experiencing Peru for the first time and we stayed twice at this hotel. The staff was completely nice and kind. We both had suffered from altitude sickness and had to use oxygen multiple times, they were always concerned about our health and even asked me how I was feeling the next morning during my breakfast. Also, Lizeth from the travel agency counter helped us to visit the city on our own and later booked a great city tour with Ruben, the tour guide who was also very knowledgeable.
1Friendly, professional and helpful staff. They can answer questions about travel, also in advance.
2Location - central.
3Budget friendly.
4Simple breakfast.
Located in the old city of Cuzco with (narrow roads and) older buildings, and generally in Peru, no indoor centralized heating, so you have to keep yourself warm - with warm clothing (and warm indoor slippers).
In the room I was assigned to, there was hot water in the shower, but it seems, no hot water in the bathroom sink. Showerhead is mounted on the ceiling.
Great option to stay in Cusco. It is located at San Blas, which is a nice place to stay, since is near to the main spots, but far enough from the crowds. The charming streets and quite place completes the scenario.
The hotel itself is very nice. The staff is always ready to help, very friendly. The room is big, clean and confortable. The breakfast has quality, not so many options, but delicious things. The hotel offers coffee, tea and water for the guests at any time of the day. I really recommend this hotel.
The locations is excellent, close to the nice area of San Blas. The rooms are very comfortable and views from the restaurant are stunning. However, the absolute best thing about the hotel was the owner, Daniel. He went out of his way to help us with many things during our trip, he also helped us plan different excursions around Cusco. His kind personality and helpfulness definitely made our stay in Cusco memorable and very smooth.
Beautiful property! We stayed here for one night after hiking the Inca Trail and Gladys was extremely helpful and kind. We were exhausted and she allowed us to check out midday so we could sleep and take our time in the morning. The breakfast was great and one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve had in Peru. The room and bathroom were clean and fabulous - a great place to unwind after a long week.
Very lovely hotel in great location, around the corner from the main square. Friendly, welcoming doorman, coca tea & other teas available 24/7, along with oxygen tank. Clean facility, comfortable room with functional heater. Staff was wonderful, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and always replenished. Enjoyed our stay, felt like at home, location is perfect. Highly recommended.
We didn't actually stay at this hotel... I guess we booked with a company called Apu's Peru and they organized our stay but were not honest at all and stole about 300 USD dollars from us. Be very aware of Apu's Peru... when we challenged them they ghosted us, taking all our money and did not even completely pay for the meals they said they would so we had to pay the restaurant ourselves.
We had a great few days stay at Los Apus. The hotel is located in San Blas, the historic district of Cusco, only steps away from main square. It is nice and cosy. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The hotel offers very good breakfast with local fruits and juices. We would definitely stay there again.
The staff were fantastic and super helpful - they made a breakfast for us when we had to leave at 3am for a trek, and were also kind enough to separate out our delicate laundry.
This hotel is very comfortable and well located - we had a really easy time exploring the city. It is also near San Blas which is a plus as that is another great area to explore.
The hotel is super cozy/authentic vibes to Peru. Loved the lobby yard/garden/seating area.
Breakfast was good, wish they replenished the items more. All the typical items you'd ask for.
Room was clean and comfortable.
It was within 7-10 minutes to city center and main square of Cusco. Very safe and accessible to all restaurants and shops.
Exceptionally and genuinely friendly staff. Very well run hotel. EVERYTHING IS GOOD IN HERE! In winter time Cusco nights can be quite chilly. We have been to different kind of accommodations - hot shower, powerful water stream and room heating seem to be luxury. In Novotel it was all there, nice hot shower, stable room temperature. Good stay!
Very beautiful hotel in San Blas with a great view over the city from the top floor. The suites are nicely decorated and have a nice bathtub. The breakfast to eat on-site as well as the package to go are excellent. Also the staff is very friendly.
Each evening they provide you hot tea and a warm water bottle to sleep.
Nice hotel. Clean, fresh and tidy. Rooms are nice. Warm water and good pressure in the shower. Not far from the San Blas square. Neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Breakfast is brought to the room and they accommodate everyone even if you have early departure for tours (i.e. 4-6am)
The reception Luis and his partners are really friendly and helpful. The location of hotel is really great. it is only 2 blocks, 100m to Wanchaq station, if you choose Perurail and its Bimodal Service from Cusco. It is the perfect location.
This lovely hotel is in the center of Cusco close to everything. The foundation and front door are original Incan construction. The decor is lovely and the Unaytambo Hotel was our favorite stay in our trip to Peru.
Breakfast was very nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel allowed me to extend my stay a few times. Great location to explore Cusco centre and San Blas neighbourhood.
The staff is wonderful, kind and very welcoming. The location is 12/10, the hotel is situated on the nicest street of San Blas ! Would definitely come back here :)
The view of this hotel is beautiful. If you want to stay in a quiet area of San Blas, this is a good choice. Breakfast was good and hotel staff was kind.
