Angkor Wat
This epic temple is so revered in Cambodia it appears on the country’s flag. Built during the 12th-century heyday of the Khmer Empire, it was first dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu before becoming a Buddhist temple. In terms of size and complexity, you can’t help but be bowled over by its barrage of giant moats, steep walls and lofty beehive-like towers.

Wonderful site.
Wonderful site. The biggest and best preserved relic of that era hundreds of years ago. Most of the time one can escape the crowds and have some moments of peace, especially away from the center of the site.

This is an amazing place that should be visited several times. The government managed tourist pass can cover three days which provides access to the temple area of Seim Reap. I recommend a first visit with a government registered guide. Then return on later days to wander and really immerse yourself in the history. Make sure your camera is ready to take a lot of photos because you will find yourself snapping shots very quickly and often.

Choose a sun rise tour.
Choose a sun rise tour. I would recommend to get a 3 day pass. Day one go for a short circuit sun rise tour.
Day 2 go for a long circuit guided tour.
On the day 3, rent a bike and explore the place yourselves.

I hired a tuktuk to get to the temple at dawn to watch the sun rises behind the temple. I love that experience of capturing the sun rising along with hundreds of other tourists. Later I strolled inside the temple complex listening to live traditional music performed by local groups.
Mesmerising experience!

Go Early!
Go Early! The heat, humidity, and crowds can get you if your not careful, take plenty of water. Buy your tickets the day before and carry your passport with you as regular checks are made against the ticket names. Hire a Tuk-tuk and a three-day ticket to see many more temples (some are just as amazing as Ankor Wat!

Big clean room and super friendly staff. Great Breakfast buffet includes eggs, croissant, toast, jams, fruit, juice, coffee and two warm options, which changed every day.
Staff was very helpful at all times. They organised a great cooking class with a market tour, 2 good mountain bikes to explore Angkor Wat, and the bus from Siem Reap to Bangkok.
We had free pickup from our bus station to the hotel. The Pool was very clean too.
The pool and garden area were lovely - very refreshing and relaxing after being out all day. The room decor has a laid-back vibe with great design. Spacious room and comfortable bed.
The hotel organised a car for us and Mr. Sarath spent the day showing us Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. Very friendly, informative about history and culture, and generally a pleasure to talk to!
We would stay again.
It was my first time staying at "People by the community", resulted with a great feeling, staying in a very comfortable room and serving by friendly staffs. Plus, the view of the hotel was really nice, especially Khmer Arts and Nature around. The location facilitated me alots with going to many places such as Angkor Wat, Pub Street, and some Foods as it's really near from those places.
This hotel is beautiful and in the middle of Siem Reap. The hotel is clean, modern, quiet and the staff are really helpful.
The location is perfect for a tourist visiting the area - great for sightseeing etc. Angkor Wat is about £2.80 in a tuk-tuk, floating village about £3.50 in a tuk-tuk.
Pub street is a 10 min walk
The hotel is very well maintained, the staff is very polite and nice especially Sreynith, she is excellent. I had not planned my travel ahead but Sreynith proactively started coordinating with me before my arrival and made sure my trip was well planned, she catered to every ask of mine and provided me with unique experiences (like Apsara Teatre). I had book for sunrise tour for Angkor Wat, she was so caring to ensure breakfast was packed and kept ready along with a bottle of water at 4 am. Very good experience and a good stay.
The best hotel during my trip in Cambodia. We loved the location, very calm and at a strategic middle way betweeen Angkor Wat site and Seam Reap city center. The knindess of the staff will pamper you and the swimming pool sourrounded by a reach vegetation will relax you after a full day at the wonderful archaelogical sites.Great value for money. We will come back.
Excellent hotel in walking distance to Siem Reap downtown. Our family of five got what I would call a whole apartment for our stay, very convenient with washing machine and kitchen for small preparations. A good pool and the hotel also provided us with an extensive breakfast to bring along for our sunrise visit to Angkor Wat, stood ready in the reception at 4:30 AM - much appreciated. Good, varied breakfast and all together a very nice place and stay for us.
This is an excellent hotel, we were so happy with our stay. The staff were exceptional and went above and beyond, helping us print our tickets & Cambodian visa & arrange a Tuktuk driver around Angkor Wat. The room itself was lovely- very spacious, comfortable bed and with a huge outdoor space with private sun loungers. The pool was a nice touch and well maintained. Very affordable- we would highly recommend.
Staff at golden temple were absolutely amazing and looked after us our whole trip. They organised our transport to the airport, a nice Cambodian lunch after our Angkor Wat tour, and my partner enjoyed the massage at the hotel too. The pool is lovely and happy hour drinks are available each day. Beds are comfortable and rooms are big too. Would recommend.
Our two-night stay at Sofitel in Siem Reap, Cambodia, was unforgettable. Located just moments from Angkor Wat, it provided the perfect base for exploring the wonders of the ancient temples. The accommodations were luxurious, the staff incredibly friendly and attentive, and the facilities top-notch. Highly recommend this hotel for an exceptional Cambodian retreat.

Do take a guided tour of the temples but not with Siem Reap Shuttle Tours - such an amazing place to visit with so much to learn and discover...shame we had the tour guide from "I don't like you because you won't buy the expensive lunch on offer" so he from then on hardly spoke to us! Incredibly rude and spoilt what should have been one of our best explorations. Out of eight people on the tour we were the only two to stick it out till the end as we only had the one day to see as much as we could...we then had to watch many programmes on Angkor Wat to find out what we had just seen! A big shame.
