Friendly, kind, very helpful (In particular I asked about non hotel related questions, what japanese stone inscriptions meant on top of a mountain, this lady also helped in using laundry machines). English was no problem. Would love to stay here again.
Featuring a garden, barbecue facilities and views of garden, hanare is located in Yamanashi, 36 km from Fuji-Q Highland.

First of all let me preface this with following information: This is the owners house. He lives on the second floor. Now when this is out of the way I cannot reccomend this enough. This is a really good lodging for its money and the owner is super nice. He picked us up at the station and even drove us to local hot springs and restaurants. He also took us close to Mt. Fuji (that costed around 5000 yen for gas) and we visited a hot spring from which we gazed at Mt. Fuji. Owner knows a bit of English and was super accommodating. Though it will help a lot if you know at least a little japanese.
ZEN&BED Bogetsu-An is an accommodation that is situated directly next to the area that houses Erinji, a Buddhist temple in Koshu. The property features mountain views, a garden, and a shared lounge.

We loved everything. It felt like a real authentic Japanese experience. The tea ceremony was fascinating and in depth in comparison to others we saw in Japan, like a lesson in tea ceremonies and how to do everything traditionally. Our room was so cute and cosy, we had the best sleep of our lives on the futon beds, loved it. The meditation practice was an amazing experience in their secret garden. The food was a highlight, I was unsure at first as it’s very different to western food but we loved every single thing that was served and enjoyed trying so many new foods. The guesthouse host and the monk that looked after us were welcoming and friendly. It was only us and one other couple in the guesthouse, so we all sat around the dinner table in the evening drinking tea and chatting. 100% worth the money and would recommend doing this over a lot of other experiences we tried. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

Grape Mama is a lovely, resilient person who has done so much to improve everything around her. She was so thoughtful and prepared delicious breakfasts every day that kept me very full and satisfied!
Let me tell you some of the thoughtful things I experienced. Before my stay it was easy to communicate in English and ask for a ride to and from the station on my travel days - she even offered to drop me at other points of interest during my stay. When I wanted to wander around on foot and look for beautiful things to paint, she gave me a bag with a folding stool and bugspray to keep me comfortable. When I finished my bath one night (after a scorching day) she gave me sherbet from her freezer because she was worried I was too hot!
Every day was pleasant and peaceful and beautiful in every direction. The view from Grape Room captures more of the greenery, and I spent hours soaking in the view from the Grape Room sofa or painting from the balcony.
A separate Kitchen and shared Laundry were always available. The sink and toilet upstairs were convenient. The open closet had room for hanging clothes, and a luggage rack helped with organization.
The area is very quiet with good air and breathtaking summer scenery. I can't recommend this B&B enough! Even if you are a foreigner and only speak English (or terrible beginner Japanese), you can have a lovely relaxing time in the countryside at Grape Mama's house.
