The hotel sent us very helpful instructions about how to find our way to it. This is useful as it is a little out of the centre of town. We arrived by train and bus which was fine and only involved a very short walk. The welcome was warm and helpful. Front desk were very helpful during our stay. The room was just what we expected from a modern hotel and was just what we needed for our one night stay before flying back to the UK. It was a very wet evening and so we were glad that the hotel had a restaurant which is usually outdoors but this night was definitely indoors! The food was very good and imaginative, beyond that in some other big hotels. It was also very reasonable. It meant we looked forward to breakfast and were not disappointed!
All the staff were very friendly and helpful with advice and taxis etc.

Travellers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look out for ragú on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savour their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops can be found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage listed. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views over this red-roofed city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square are the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088 and home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodation on Booking.com ranges from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.

This is a regional centre with hidden gems everywhere you explored. The food definitely lives up to it's reputation. Lively while not over the top. Locals friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back and stay longer now I have experienced this great town.

I miss Bologna already.
I miss Bologna already. Im in Milan now and regret every second here that I coulve spent in the warm, cozy, and soothing atmosphere of Bologna. The food is superior, the architecture, the vibe.. loved everything there. You wont find the usual “influencer” heaven there but in my opinion I would rather have that Bolognese charm than the over crowded touristy jungle elsewhere.

Lovely historical city, fantastic attractions, lovely food...
Lovely historical city, fantastic attractions, lovely food and can walk to most attractions, didn’t have to take a bus once. The world famous UNESCO Bolognese porticoes are truly splendid.
Would highly recommend purchasing the Bologna Welcome Card, which includes a walking tour, visit to Palazzo d’Accursio to see the Civic Art Collection and the Clock Tower and visits to a plethora of museums.
If possible, a hike to Santuario Madonna di San Luca should be on your itinerary for a picturesque and panoramic view of the Bolognese hills and the city.
Bologna and its region, Emilia-Romanga, have got a lot going on and credit to the City and regional governments for investments in making Bologna a must visit location if travelling to Italy.
For eat-in food spots, check out Osteria dell’Orsa, Le Morine, L’antica Pizzeria da Michele and the food market, Mercato di Mezzo (all in the city centre). For take-aways, check out Murtadela, La Piadena and Tigellino (conveniently all on Via Calzolerie in the city centre). Also check out Ragu, Sfoglia Rina (both in city centre) and Pasta Fresca Naldi (around 20 mins from centre).
The Bologna Welcome Card Walking Tour helps you to tick off a few attractions, such as Piazza Maggiore, Basilica di San Petronio, Seven Churches, Neptune’s Fountain and the Courtyard of the Archiginnasio (you can pay €3 euros to visit the Anatomical Theatre), but, unfortunately, it was inaccessible when we were there due to a conference.
If you there for shopping, visit the shops on Via Indipendenza, Via Ugo Bassi and Galleria Cavour (for a bit of Milan in Bologna).
Don’t sleep on visiting Bologna, it’s lively, it’s picturesque, it’s a food haven and it’s totally unique. Grazie Bologna!

It is a city steeped in history but not pickled in the past.
It is a city steeped in history but not pickled in the past. It is incredibly down to earth and unpretentious. A beautiful city to walk in. Obviously it is famous for its food and the quality of the ingredients is superb without the need for a 3 michelin star makeover. It isn't a city that spawned the greatest of artists but there are some extraordinary artworks to be seen in galleries and churches. It can boast the oldest university in the world but doesn't actually "boast" - "boasting" is not Bologna's style.

Bologna is the destination I use as a hub when visiting...
Bologna is the destination I use as a hub when visiting Italy and travelling around by train. Good links from the Airport to the extensive rail network. Bologna Centrale is a feat of modern engineering hidden well underground. Links to Milan, Venice, Florence and further to Rome and Naples are rapid and frequent, so a lot can be achieved through this hub. The centre of Bologna is less over-crowded than the aforementioned cities, but it can still be very busy in the key central areas. It is all very walkable, and they are currently building in new transport infrastructure around the Ugo Bassi main thoroughfare. The west end of Ugo Bassi hosts the Mercato delle Erbe, one of the best indoor food markets in the area, which is backed with restaurants which are lively places to visit. I have eaten in many very good restaurants in and around the centre, but I will highlight Ristorante Da Nello al Montegrappa as a recurring favourite for a long standing traditional Bolognese experience. Hostaria San Carlino offers something different and very local further off the beaten track, and is well worth the wander. Creameria La Vecchia Stalla, not far from the precariously tilting towers, offers an incredible selection of gelato, and is busy for good reason. Some of the churches, which appear externally quite bland, offer incredible examples of craftsmanship and artistry in design. I still can't figure out how the world's longest sun dial was constructed on the floor of the Basilica. Remarkable. Do experience the city, it has a quality about it that is different and well worth the visit.
We really enjoyed our time here. Close to the airport, close to the centre and also the train station. Staff were all friendly and the reception desk was very helpful. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of offerings. Room was very spacious with good air conditioning. The restaurant is very good, we normally avoid eating in hotels but we ended up having dinner twice here. I stayed in another hotel in Bologna closer to the station and it was very old and tired inside, not the case here.
Great location, walking distance to Bologna Centrale where you can catch the air train and be at the airport for literally 7 min :), or catch a train to wherever you would like to go in Italy.
A lot of nice cafés and restaurants just around the corner.
The apartment was very clean, warm, cozy and comfortable. The office is next door and you could leave your baggage there before check-in or after check-out.
Small, cosy hotel very close to the airport. Large room, comfortable large bed. Good breakfast and excellent coffee. Friendly staff with very good English. The bus very close to the hotel will take you straight to Bologna city centre.
Short walk from Bologna Central Station so very handy if getting Marconi Shuttle to airport. Also about 20 min walk in to Piazza Maggiore. Very modern hotel with helpful staff
