Good location, easy to get to from Bardonecchia train station by free shuttle bus and the host Luca was very responsive before the trip on every matter and was very helpful throughout. We were 4 families with kids. Two families had rooms with the kitchenettes, and everything was in working order and had everything we needed, however the sofabeds in those rooms were not the most comfortable. My family hd a quadroople room with which we were very happy with and the beds were comfy. Rooms were very clean, just the walls are very thin so you do hear everything in the other room. We used the sauna with hot tub a few times- very nice to relax after skiing(does cost extra).
Overall we were very happy with our stay and definitely recommend hotel La Pigna!

The hotel is amazing for Italian standards. There are 3 jacuzzi available during the afternoon, and a sauna. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is delicious. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, the pillows were good, the sheets were nice and warm in the right measure, the bathroom was a distance from the bed and more private, and also spacious and clean. There was a handy storage room for ski gear next to the entrance and a nice social area with a bar and comfy chairs and all. A lovely place, well-located, just a stone's throw away from Campo Smith, next to a bus stop and some shops.

Bardonecchia is a ski resort in need of a lot of investment.
Bardonecchia is a ski resort in need of a lot of investment. The resort consists of only drag lifts and chair lifts (of which only one has a hood and none of which are heated). The chairs and drag lifts are very slow to get up the mountain and so you spand ages getting up to the slopes.
At weekends the resort is full of children learning to ski which is fine. But they often fall over getting onto chair and drag lifts, further slowing up an already slow system.
On top of all this the resort faces north so doesn't get any direct sun until about 13:00 which makes the resort very cold and icy, especially in the morning.
The resort also claims to have 100km of pistes. I would really love to see evidence of this. I skied every run I could find on the Saturday (some multiple times) and SkiTracks said I covered 35km.
So, Bardonecchia is a cheap resort, but what you get is not a great experience given the alternatives available nearby

The cabin lift from the hotel down to Bardonecchia was convenient but expensive at 11€ pp, we thought perhaps that the hotel would have offered a discount for it's guests. They had free buses to take you from the lift to all areas of the town. Beautiful flower boxes decorated the town 🤩. Sadly, a mud slide hit the town on the night of 8/13 and closed the lift for the rest of our trip 😔 The hotel didn't offer any type of shuttle service. To be fair, they were understaffed. Sadly, that seems to be a recurring problem in restaurants and hotels now 😕

Easy to get to from Turin by car or train.
Easy to get to from Turin by car or train.
Very reasonably priced restaurants although few choices. Cuisine Royal was great with really nice staff.
Sizeable town but few facilities. It appears to have lots of holiday homes that remain empty.
Some signs of faded glory. Few signs of recent investment so it feels a bit run down. Ski area is reasonable size but lacks character and interest. Many mountain huts but few with real character.
Ski rental shops were few and poorly staffed.
Overall, worth trying for a cheap last minute trip if the snow is good

A beautiful small town, offering amazing mountains views.
A beautiful small town, offering amazing mountains views. Every house in the city is made in a particular style and makes it unique and cosy.
A great experience for first time skiing trip. Most amazing is that the ski resort is actually located in the city and not somewhere outside where you can't get without a car. Here - Bardonecchia is only 1,5 h from Turin by train.
We loved the location right infront of the Campo Smith chairlift. We had a bird's eye view of the New Year celebrations and fireworks from our balcony which was amazing. We loved that the ski rental company and lesson provider were next to our apartment making everything very convenient for a successful ski trip. It was just a pity that the snow conditions were so poor. Covererd parking right under the apartment was an added bonus as well.
. Good location halfway between train station and ski resort where my family were spending a few days. My room was cosy and comfortable, loved the little balcony as it got the afternoon sun, weather was nice so not too cold to sit out for a while. It's a family run hotel so David was there at all times to attend to any request which was seen to immediately, very friendly and patient as I had no Italian, I learned a few words from him.
The hotel has been under new management for the last 3 weeks and had a much better experience than what I read in the reviews. The management is super nice and friendly and keep the place very clean. They are aware of the place being old and have started to refresh the place. The location of the hotel is great, 2 minutes from the station and has a bus stop right in front that gets you to the ski slopes.
spacious appartment in bardonecchia with good functioning central heating. Owner provided us with high chair for baby. Ample parking outside appartment though there is no reserved parking but never had issues. Note that appartment is quite close to the centre of bardonecchia which is around 1.4km from campo smith ski slopes
Comfortable bed , very clean , good shower . Great location for what we needed. Added bonus of a good washing machine . Designated Parking space underground although we could park outside easily as we went out of ski and summer season . Can imagine the parking space would definitely be welcome in peak season .
great location, close to the town and not far to the main ski area slopes. It is a 'quirky' apartment, old fashioned in its decor and style, but has a certain charm . It was warm and cosy and there was plenty of space for us and everything needed for a weeks stay. I would go back again.
Nice old style hotel, very well located in the center of Bardonecchia. Easy access to everything. Large parking area. Nice, big yard. Clean room. Good meals. The hotel has all the necessary facilities and the owner (Beatrice) is always around and very helpful.
The location is sublime but it was the friendliness of the owners and the generous room and facilities that impressed most. It's probably accommodation for skiers/hikers in winter. Dinner prepared by the nonna was excellent.
Comfortable apartment with two good size rooms, nice sitting and eating area and kitchen. Very convenient location within walking distance to both the skiing area and the main street and supermarket.
I would highly recommend for families with toddlers who would like a ski in and out resort because they have a play area and children animators! Well done! Pixie says Hi :)
Location is great, near restaurants, stores and we even made the walk every morning to the ski resort.
Owner was available to help with problems which came up.
Location to Campo Smith was ideal, 5 minute drive, Hotel was clean, Hosts were great, a family feel, Breakfast was fine, usual continental selection....
Great location for skiing and apres ski. The room has a nice mountain view from the balcony and the heating works great. Elevator to the parking garage.
