We loved our 2 nights here! Bjarni is a fantastic host, and we really enjoyed the fish soup and homemade beer bread (and dessert) at his cafe down the street. The shared areas were kept very clean, and the shower had great water pressure. The kitchen area was well-equipped, spacious, and had several tables and places to sit. The hostel has lots of antique furnishings that added to the warmth of the place. Our room was spacious and had a desk and a large, beautiful hutch of sorts. The beds were very comfortable. Dalvik is a small town, so you don't have to walk very far to get to the cafe, library, (where my dad bought a used book), grocery store, etc. The swimming pool was wonderful, too! We spent one day taking the ferry to and from Grimsey, and we only had to walk across the street and down the stairs by the restaurant to get to the ferry. Thank you for a great stay and all of your help and communication prior to our arrival! I would love to return!

Quiet, well set up with useful kitchen. Great communication - we were emailed with room and code details in good time. Great base for hikes around the island, to return for a comfortable evening. Caught the ferry across both ways.
