A big thumbs up for the very helpful staff of Hotel Laxa. When we were about to check out, we clumsily drove our car into a pile of snow accumulated in the hotel car park overnight and got stuck there. A few hotel guests around lent us a hand but still could not pull our car out.
Fionn at the Front Desk came to assistance immediately upon our request. It was certainly some strenuous work he did to free our car from the thick snow. And he's our hero.
Thanks also to another lady at the Front Desk who was very helpful. It's a pity that we did not know her name.
All in all, it was a great stay at Hotel Laxá. It's clean, cosy and at a good location in the Myvatn area.
Situated by Lake Myvatn, this hotel offers WiFi . All rooms feature a TV and private bathroom. Skútustaðagígar natural site is 2 minutes’ walk away.

Location is perfect just across the pseudocraters, up to 10 km to the other attractions in Myvatn.
Large room, clean, confortable.
The best and most diverse breakfast from our trip to Iceland (we changed 7 hotels on the way).
Very nice and helpful staff.
Correct value for money

Myvatn Lake and Nature Reserve
Just an hour’s drive east of Akureyri, this wetland reserve is a hotbed of volcanic activity, from bubbling mud pits to lava formations. Myvatn Lake’s waters are a haven for wading birds, with more duck species found here than anywhere else on Earth. The lake’s name translates as ‘midge water’, and for good reason – be sure to bring insect repellent if you visit!

An excellent place to stay next to Lake Myvatn. Located close to Hverir geothermal area and Myvatn Nature Baths (well worth a visit). The restaurant here is superb and the buffet breakfast the best we had in Iceland with meats and cheeses etc. from the farm (there is a very strong farm to plate ethic going on here). The room itself was well sized but cozy and warm (it was minus 13 in the morning so this was important!). Plus you can go and pet the cows and calves!
The restaurant and the close location to the Myvatn Nature Baths, both must go to places!
Nice, spacious space, we fitted in the 3 beds with our 2 boys. Lovely.
Good location to stay for 3 days and explore the area and visiting for example Dettifoss, Myvatn Nature Baths, Husavik, Krafla, Dimmuborgir and Godafoss.
Pizza restaurant nearby
The location is perfect, close to Mývatn Nature Baths. The view is superb, and the Hverfell volcano is just outside the window. Thanks for providing us with so much info about nearby attractions and activities. The receptionists are warmhearted, and the instructions for the room are very clear.
Hotel has a hot tub, free to guests, although we didn't use it. Good breakfast and plenty of free car parking. There are walks you can do from the hotel and it is directly opposite the lake and a short drive from the Myvatn Nature Baths
Centrally located guesthouse in the middle of Myvatn, looking out on Hverfjall, with Dimmuborgir lava fields, Grjótágja and the Myvatn nature baths at stones throw distance. Facilities are in good shape and clean, there is a large communal area, with an also large, well organized kitchen. you can self check-in by means of a pin-code. There is a pizza restaurant on the terrain, and at the farm resort across the road there is a very good restaurant.
The room was simple but clean, warm, cosy-looking, and comfortable. The beds were great and we slept very well! The location was fantastic - only a short drive from Myvatn Nature Baths. Most wonderful of all was the food! The breakfast was fantastic with a wide range of high-quality options. We also had dinner there and omg - the food was incredibly delicious. The geyser bread, butter, beef carpaccio, lamb soup, and lamb of the day were all amazing. The lamb portion was also really generous. We really, really enjoyed it.
The location was perfect after my family enjoyed bath in Myvatn Nature Baths till late evening. The interior design of the hotel was very unique and creative. The bed and linen was so comfy that we could have a good rest. The breakfast was delicious and we could try islandic food. The setting of food was really neat and hygenic.
Breakfast was fantastic. The overall feeling about the Hotel is that it's caring for the environment, and we humans are part of the environment. The linens are cleaned without scented detergent. This is the first time in all of our travels that my husband hasn't been allergic to the room. The buffet breakfast is likewise varied and healthy. I felt very safe and comfortable with the COVID precautions taken by the hotel. It's also in the perfect location for visiting both the Myvatn Nature Baths and Husavik.
Beautiful place close to Myvatn and the Myvatn nature baths. Very modern and spacious. Excellent breakfast! We were lucky to get a complimentary upgrade to a huge, lovely room close to the reception area.
