Hotel Nemesis, hotel in Stavroupoli

Situated on the Rodopi mountain range in Thrace, Hotel Nemesis consists of castle-style buildings within a 5-minute walk from the centre of Stavroupolis.

The uniques pseudo-castle architecture will stick in memory, behing the medievial looks there are all amenities in the comfortable rooms including A/C and central heating (of course not needed now in summer). Plenty of choice for breakfast, plenty of choice to enjoy it outside by the pool. Good location for hiking and exploring Nestos Gorge or the wider surroundings. The very scenic mountain road to Toxotes has been asphalted recently, adding another option for a touristic loop.

Τα πλατάνια, hotel in Stavroupoli

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, Τα πλατάνια is located in Áno Kariófiton. The property has garden and inner courtyard views, and is 38 km from Folk and Anthropological Museum.

We had a wonderful 3-week stay between end August and mid September at this small and cosy accommodation and were truly happy with our choice. It was perfect for our little family, as the property offers a very family-friendly environment, with plenty of seating areas, both covered and open, making it enjoyable in all kinds of weather. Our daughter loved the swings. The accommodation was very clean, it made us feel comfortable right from the start. Vintage elements and modern touches of the rooms and decoration added to the honest feeling of being away in an old and quiet Greek mountain village. The newly renovated bathroom and the well equipped kitchen added to the comfort. It was also a pleasure to meet the host and his father while they were maintaining their vegetable garden. A big thank you for the delicious veggies they shared with us! The outdoor BBQ area was another highlight. We got to know some of the other friendly, elderly villagers. As the majority of the buildings they also grow older and fewer, a faith that seem to share villages all over the world in remote and mainly untouched areas. The communication with the host was exceptional quick and helpful, making everything smooth and easy throughout our whole stay. We also got recommendations of what to do and where to go in the area. All in all, it’s a lovely place, especially for families with small children, and we truly felt at home.

To Archontiko Guesthouse Villa, hotel in Stavroupoli

Built amphitheatrically overlooking the river Nestos and the traditional village of Stavroupoli, this renovated mansion dates back to the 1920s.

I initially looked at staying in the town of Xanthi for this trip but Savroupoli was a much better choice. The breakfast included locally made jams, cheese and cold meats served by friendly staff in an attentive way.
