Acanthus blue, hotel in Corfu Town

Acanthus blue features a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Corfu Town. This property is located a short distance from attractions such as Serbian Museum, Ionio University, and Municipal...

My wife and I were in Corfu almost 3 weeks and spent the first 4 nights in an apartment in the middle of the old town. Then we traveled around the island for a couple of weeks and on our return, we needed one night near the airport after turning the rental car in. So, we were only in this beautiful boutique hotel one night. It is a top-end and extremely nice hotel and property of exceptional quality and service - definitely 5-Star level quality of rooms, service and the building, but small and very quiet. Also, a lovely garden seating area and great breakfast. The location is interesting and really quite good. It is basically on the water near the airport and when you walk out to the promenade along the water, you are staring across to the old fortress - about a 500 meter walk into the heart of old Corfu, but still in the old town and in a beautiful area with a park and great restaurants that the locals flock to because it is slightly away from the absolute pedestrian center of the old town. The on-site managers are extremely professional and the hotel bar in the beautiful entry living area is impressive. This must have been an old stone 19th Century wealthy family mansion. Grat boutique hotel. Highly recommended. Last thing - there is a taxi drop-off at the door, so you don't have to drag your bags through the cobbled streets like anywhere else in the old town. If you have a rental car, there is a much higher chance of parking it near there, and still a very beautiful short walk along the water to the heart of the pedestrian-only zone.

Loved the lanes that were full of restaurants bars and shops. A vibrant town. The harbour has beautiful views and the Old Fort is worth the climb to see another spectacular view of Corfu Town. Be aware the larger shops close early on a Saturday and not open on a Sunday so if you are self catering make sure you ahve your supplies. Very easy to walk around the town. We eat at a number of different restaurants and would grade them from good to very good. Can be busy when the cruise ships are in.

Corfu was amazing, and my family members who went too all...

Corfu was amazing, and my family members who went too all agree. The Corfu Palace Hotel was a highlight, with great views, breakfasts, and location. We especially enjoyed climbing to the top of the Old Fortress and walking around the Old Town. We went to 2 beaches, Glythia and Porto Timoni, and if we had brought an international drivers license, we could have driven to the Porto Timoni, b/c we had to pay 200 Euros for a taxi to and from. One of my highlights was taking the ferry to Saranda, Albania. For over 40 years, Albania was "the North Korea of Europe," one of the world's most isolated nations with a harsh communist dictatorship. Now, one can travel there freely and from Corfu it was easy. We enjoyed the English worship service on Mother's Day at the Holy Trinity Church. If we had had more time, would have gone to the New Fortress and the Mon Repos palace and Mouse Island. Maybe on a future trip!

It is good to have a few days time.

It is good to have a few days time. Though one might be able to see most attractions in a day or two, it feels much nicer to take the time to roam through the atmospheric streets and see where one ends up and what is personally relevant at the time. It might be nice to visit the town market in the early morning hours; skip a breakfast in one's hotel and instead have breakfast in a coffee shop and sit between the locals; walk in non touristy areas and take time to make contact with sellers, like the wonderful owner of the religious gift shop 'Thomas', close to St. Spiridon church. Take time for a siesta in the hottest hours of the day and start refreshed for an afternoon excursion to one of the recommended attractions, followed by a splendid dinner in one of the many restaurants in the narrow alleys of the town, accompanied by the songs of swallows. We certainly come back, as there are still many things to discover and town and people deserve your interest and appreciation.

so different than an apartment! What an amazing experience! Thank you to Donia and her son George who were outstanding. We wanted 2 nights in old Corfu town before heading to Paxi, this was by far the best experience rather than an apartment. Based at the old Fortress within the sailing club. Felt safe, the boat is clean, homely and a home from home, just amazing! Loved listening to the music school in the morning, just the most fantastic experience, thank you Donia! I’ll definitely be back to have a skipper to take us out on Cleopatra!

The breakfast was adequate, with a wide choice of warm savoury and sweet food and a good first breakfast. We did not try lunch and dinner. The hotel is well placed close to Kanoni beach and Kanoni square. There, you can find several restaurants (including a really nice Greek Taverna) and the bus stop that is really easy to use to get to the main centre of Corfu town. The staff was also really kind and helped us organise taxi bookings and recommended places where to eat in Corfu Town.

Corfu Palace Hotel is a fabulous hotel, with a lot of "Golden Age era" charm. Its location, with breathtaking views on the coast and old harbour, just a few steps away from the historic centre couldn't have been better. The staff were extremely courteous and professional - and the pool bar in particular served excellent drinks! The pool area is quite spacious, pleasant and well-kept (we even met their pet turtle), and the salt-water pool is quite large, so it never felt too crowded.

This apartment is a gem in the centre of beautiful Corfu Town. Set amongst the bustling streets, there is a wonderful atmosphere around with lovely craft shops and tavernas at hand. Perfect location for wandering this historic city. Flat beautifully appointed with air-conditioning, a lovely balcony and comfortable bedroom. It is situated 3 steep flights up in the building so if you have mobility issues I would recommend somewhere more suitable but otherwise would highly recommend!

This was one of our most comfortable and relaxing stays in Greece. Quite close to the airport and Corfu Town. The location was very convenient and the amenities were amazing. The moment you walk in the door you get a feeling of a calm and peaceful welcome by the spacious and artistically tasteful ambiance. The hotel is located near the center(old town of Corfu) which has the best and most café and wine bars of the island. Most known, beautiful and reachable beaches(Palaiokastritsa, Glifada) are approximately 20 min away by car. Also 1 min away from the hotel is located maybe the best restaurant that I have ever eaten meat in Greece, its name is Paprica(quite cheap and quality food). I definitely recommend Folies Hotel for this price range. Totally worth it.
