It is about 17 km one way.
It is about 17 km one way. You should check weather forecast, cause if it is windy and the sea is stormy you will not be able to get back using option boat+bus. In this case you will have to go back which is OK if you are in fit (way back is an 17 km way, with altitude difference a bit less than 1000 m) or rent a room for a night which is also OK, but you'd better aware of these options.

Very big apartment completely dedicated to us with access to the pool. The location is very convenient for Samaria Gorge and it is in reach of nearby restaurants. The location is perfect, very quiet and beautifully surrounded by nature.
The family run hotel was a superb place for our trip to the Samaria Gorge. They were exceptionally friendly. We liked the local food, at the restaurant which was very tasty and plentiful. They even offer free shuttles to the entrance of the gorge. We had 2 relaxing night in the peaceful environment.

A genuine family owned and cared for hotel serving the local area for hikers. Definitely the best of the four hotels serving Omalos, with a lovely covered dining area with water feature. They dropped us off at the Samaria Gorge and talked us through how to get back. When we stumbled back in many hours later (it’s definitely a hike!) they served a gorgeous meal of home cooked (we saw it) local fresh food and wine.
This is a mountain refuge and as such the location is very beautiful and quite. There is a restaurant that serves also warm coffee and local tea blends. You can also dine with simple and local meals. Our room had the essential and was overall fine. The location is perfect to reach the Samaria gorge and you can also hike in the area surrounding the hotel.
The location of the hotel is ideal if you want to trek the Samaria gorges. Just 4 km from the entrance, a few minutes by car.
The owner was extremely helpful and pleasant. The dinner served was very god value for money and the dining room very cheery.
