A perfect place to idle on a sunny day. The outdoor restaurant was a great place to meet up with friends and family then wander through the well kept gardens. The changes of the seasons bring different treasures.

A favorite FREE place to visit for over 50 years.

A favorite FREE place to visit for over 50 years. Note that the parking charges are much higher right by the West entrance gate than 100m away. There is no entrance from the south and the east gate is more towards the centre of Edinburgh so pretty congested. Particularly recommended in late spring when the rhododendrons are flowering. Or during winter when there are light displays.

There are 2 entrances one on the east side and one on west side, lovely gardens well maintained, love the cottage/vegetable garden. The glass houses I feel were expensive considering you couldn’t access all the houses due to Covid, but as it was free to get into the botanical gardens still worth a visit. Very popular with families.

Lovely comfortable bed. Spacious room. Lavishly decorated. Ground floor room so no lugging cases up the stairs! Great breakfast. (Although would have been better with a jug of oat milk (vegan option) rather than little individual packs in plastic). Very good location for Royal Botanic Garden.
