The hotel looks far more decent in reality than in the pictures. It has very tidy, nicely scented, well-decorated rooms and ensuite bathrooms. The location is extremely good, as it is about a 15-minute walk to the city centre and Mermaid Quay. This makes the location so advantageous.
We had a comfortable suite, with lots of space. Breakfast was OK, with quite good choice. The hotel was very convenient for Mermaid Quay, just a 10 minute walk away, and likewise a short walk to Queen Street Station, which we used to go into the city centre. Free parking was a real bonus.
The coal Exchange Hotel is a beautiful historical building with a lot of character.
The deco and furniture was perfect for the building, and we loved the information and pictures of its history placed around the Hotel.
The coal Exchange is also within the walking distance to Cardiff Bay, Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay and the train station.
It's a nice location with a lovely view and only a 5 minute walk to mermaid quay and the staff are all lovely.
