The hotel’s location is excellent. It’s a 5-minute walk to the entrance of the Bastei Bridge, and there’s a pedestrian street right behind the hotel. It’s also close to several hiking trail entrances. The hotel itself is quite nice. The bed is very comfortable, and while the room isn’t large, it is well-arranged, making it an ideal place for a short stay.
Sauna is simple but enough.
Featuring free WiFi, a restaurant and a barbecue, Amselgrundschlösschen offers pet-friendly accommodation in Kurort Rathen. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar.

Perfect location for nature lovers. Nice and clean room. Very good breakfast. Free parking. Amazing service - Ondrej (?) in the reception provided us with useful information and was very kind and supportive. Despite our late arrival - the check-in was smooth and fast, all information was sent to us and was clear. Would love to return.

It's an excellent hiking place, recommended for families with children, dogs - especially during the weekdays when you can enjoy the quiet beauty of nature. The Elba is beautiful, there are nice walking/ cycling routes all around, the top of the hill is half an hour walk, sunsets/sunrises are stunning.

Loved the quaint little town with access to such beautiful nature. The Bastei route gets really busy so the earlier you go, the better. The Bastei bridge is not the only beautiful route in the area though and its definitely worth it to explore the other routes more. Personally I loved the approach via the Swedish holes more. Also walk along the river past the route that goes up to Lillienstein, beautiful views with a scenic walk.
Restaurants in the area can be pricey but the Imbiss is a good option. We did self catering and was able to buy a few basic supplies for soup from the town shop and a few goodies for breakfast.
We stayed for 4 nights but would definitely recommend more to explore the area and in summer partake in more activities.

The place is great for hiking.
The place is great for hiking. Nature and Bastei bridge are beautiful.
But there is only one small shop in the town. The closest supermarkets are in Bad Schandau. And most cafes closes early (till 8-9p.m.). That's inconvenient.

A fantastic area, stunning walks and places to explore.
A fantastic area, stunning walks and places to explore. This is an area of Germany, little visited by British tourists and yet has so much to offer. The public transport is brilliant, once there we had no need to use the car.
Kurort Rathen and this hotel is a very nice place to relax and unwind. Cars can't drive into the village so it's very quiet around and you can enjoy the view from the balcony and listen to the sound of the Elbe water. The hotel has a very good wellness center with a small pool and various types of saunas.
And it is a paradise for those who love hiking.
Balcony with view of the river.
Great location. Restaurant was great, with good food and wine. Located very well within the village. Great routes nearby.
Located in a calm, car free area.
If you travel by car, the only way to reach the hotel is by parking the car on the other side of the river and cross the river by ferry, which is nice.
Fantastic place Kurort Rathen, nice pension with excellent location - near the ferry and railway station, comfortable room, very tasty and rich breakfast, fine staff. Bonus is the free entrance to the Eisenbahnwelten - park with moving train models, that is interesting not only for kids but also to adults.
This hotel is in a beautiful location. We hiked right in as we were hiking Der Malerweg. Our room was very nice, very clean, and just as described, with a balcony. Many Americans don't like European beds, but we thought the bed here was very comfortable. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was also great.
Very good breakfast, location is perfect for a relaxing time surrounded by nature. Private sauna was very cool to have and staff was super friendly. Perfect location to go to Bastei Bridge on a day trip, and ticket to use the ferry is given by the hotel which was great.
Comfortable room with plenty of windows and views (of the town, not the mountains). Fan included with the room, helping a lot for keeping the room cool.
Excellent access for hiking.
Good breakfast and decent food in the hotel restaurant overall.
Amazing Hotel in the Mountains with great structure. Staff was super empathetic and supported us with our Special Date. Enjoyed our stay In a great apartment. Food was very delicious and breakfast complete. Close to the train station and Bastei.
I would consider this hotel more of a B&B. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant was absolutely AMAZING. Big breakfast bar with tons of food options. I would stay at this hotel again for the breakfast alone.
We came to relax and enjoy the Saxon Swiss National Park and our stay in the hotel made this possible. The staff put themselves out for us, the food was interesting, permitting us to wander around the National Park at our leisure.
Everything was just perfect! The railway in miniature was really impressive, and it's free for hotel guests! Close to the ferry and you get free tickets for it for the whole stay! Descent breakfast with very good coffee.
Nice quiet location for enjoying the beautiful nature.
Super helpful and friendly staff and the hotel let us to change the date because our flight was delayed.
Clean room and nice natural decoration!
Large and comfortable room with an exquisite view. Completely digitalized hotel with self check-in, except for restaurant staff, no humans visible, but everything worked without a glitsch.
