The Ritz Carlton in Nanjing is a wonderful structure. The hotel is just amazing, and the staff extremely kind and attentive. Our room was at a high floor and the view we had on the city was stunning at night. The room itself was huge, with sophisticated furniture and decorations. Flair, the bar at 62nd floor is beautiful, with a wide selection of drinks and snacks, and the Chinese restaurant at 39th floor exceeded our expectations: wonderful atmosphere and amazing food.
Altogether it was a memorable stay. We wish to be back soon!

Great parts: 1) the room I had was bigger than normal and bigger than what I expected for the price; 2) the fact that a window in my room can be opened (although to limited extent )to allow fresh air in was a big plus ; 3) the air conditioning was easy to operate and function well; 4) the breakfast has great variety, quality and taste of food were beyond my expectation - I believe anything cooked was cooked by real Chefs for 5 star hotel; 5) Staff at the counter are all friendly, particularly Macy, who is efficient and knowledgable…. I was very happy and pleased therefore chosen to stay more days with upgrade of room.

Right next to the reconstructed TaiPing gate, just outside that is the White Horse park and a plank path up to the Purple Mountain and over to the Ming tombs, as well as the SE corner of Xuanwu Lake -- both excellent for morning exercise. A vibrant neighbourhood with many restaurants, and a bus stop with multiple routes including one to Nanjing Railway Station just in front. Easy walking distance to the JiuHuaShan Line 4 subway station. Good breakfast included. Loaned a nice big umbrella during heavy rainstorm.

Clean, modern, spacious, thoughtfully designed, not overly cluttered. We heard from a friend after our stay that the hotel has been refurbished over the last few years and guests can really feel that it is freshly revamped. The toiletries are lovely - would have bought some of these if they had been stocked in the merchandise area. Overall really very nice hotel in a lovely location with lots of local colour.

To me the Purple Mountain is like the pyramids of Cairo. A bit of introductory history before the visit is recommended either through a guide or Google (before entering China) We spent an entire day hiking everywhere. A must see place!

There is no way to avoid the crowds!
There is no way to avoid the crowds! In fact, the crowds are part of the funs. Smile and join in on the fun! Kidding aside, Purple mountain is a great place to get away from the crowds - walk between the 3 major attractions, which we found to be very beautiful too!
