Definitely take the cog train up Gonergatt.
Definitely take the cog train up Gonergatt. Hike down at least two rain stops. The views of the Matterhorn and glaciers is stunning and well worth the walk. Be sure to wear good fitting shoes - it is relatively steep and you do not want your feet sliding forward in your shoes. It you have knee problems I would suggest wearing whatever support you normally use.

It was a great experience as the receptionist was welcoming and attended to us with a friendly face. As for the place itself, it's beauty was undescribable and left at at awe. It is truly a place to go back which we are hoping to go back to next time. Great job and please do continue the great service and maintaining the place.

Nothing prepares you for just how amazing it is to see this...
Nothing prepares you for just how amazing it is to see this mountain from Gornergrat. Pay the money take the train up and then hike down a few stops to Riffelsberg. The trails are all downhill, well marked and worth the view. Then later in the evening go to the cemetery in the Englander church and remember the 500+ mountaineers who did not make it back to enjoy hot chocolate.

Stunning scenery and the Matterhorn is awe inspiring. Allow plenty of time to enjoy the visit especially if you intend to walk down part of the way. The descending is harder than it looks as the ground is rough.

We had a view from next to our hotel as this mountain...
We had a view from next to our hotel as this mountain dominates the town. We were also fortunate with the weather. The trip up the Gornegrat Railway, whilst very expensive was an unmissable experience and other travellers should investigate the Swiss Rail pass which halved the cost.

We stayed two nights and were upgraded to a 3 bed apartment !! It was spacious and modern with a magnificent view of the Matterhorn. Jagerhof is perfectly located.
It was a 10 minute walk to the Paradise gondola or into town to catch the Gornergrat train. Breakfast was great, the only time in Switzerland we had a hot option ( scrambled eggs). We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was high quality and reasonably priced. The front desk staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful. This was a perfect couple of days.
The location was superb, the view of the Matterhorn from the balcony was better than any 5* hotel offered. Meggie was kind and friendly and made us feel very welcome. She was responsive to questions asked and made us feel at ease during our stay. The apartment was spacious and very well equipped, with everything we needed to be able to self-cater. We had an amazing stay and would highly recommend this property and Meggie as a host - there's nothing that we can think of that could have improved our stay.
A pleasant hotel, with a good location and a nice swimming pool and sauna. We had a view of Matterhorn from our room, and a spacious balcony to enjoy it. The bed was comfortable, and actually we liked everything about our room - the space and the furnishings, maybe the bathroom looked a bit older, but everything was functioning. The staff was really nice and welcoming. (Also multilingual, which is probably no surprise for Switzerland :)
Everything was perfect. My stay is delightful except that Matterhorn hid behind the cloud during my 2 days.
The sauna and outdoor pool were wonderful as I had it all to myself. Take note, sauna is unisex and textile free (cannot don swimwear)

Feels luxurious. Service from staff was excellent. Kiri and her colleagues were so helpful in guiding us to the hotel and to our room, despite it being so late in the night as we arrived late due to train cancellations and delays. Breakfast selection was good. View of the Matterhorn from the big room balcony was amazing. This was the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 week stay in Switzerland.
The staff were all friendly from check in to check out and they made you feel welcome. Room was spacious with a beautiful view of Matterhorn. We took the apartment for 4 pax. It has 2 bathroom with toilet and even a bathtub thrown in! Pool with massage feature was top notch. This hotel provides massage services, too bad i didnt get to try it as i found out too late. Breakfast spread includes instant noodles! It has washing machine and dryer FOC which was really fantastic. All you need was to provide your own laundry detergent.
The atmosphere is amazing, mostly young people that came to ski or explore Zermatt and the mountains. Also, value for money is great, this was one of the cheapest hostels I've seen in Switzerland and also got breakfast included in the price. Breakfast was amazing. The view from my window was to Klein Matterhorn, the best. Also, the receptionist is very kind and helpful.
A perfect-sized apartment, modern, comfortable and attractive with everything we needed. It was wonderful to have our own patio and a nice view of the surrounding mountains (not of the Matterhorn, but it was around the corner). We were very comfortable, the establishment seemed very well-run, professional and peaceful. We were happy to have a studio apartment for a few days of our trip rather than a hotel. Shopping for groceries at nearby Micros was convenient; the hotel is just up from the center of town a few minutes walk.
The hotel is fabulous and we were upgraded to an apartment which was a happy surprise! We had a gorgeous room with a balcony with flowers and a view of the Matterhorn!
Wonderful small boutique style apart hotel, I can't say enough good things about it: very professional and kind staff with spot on recommendations for anything you may need. The apartment had a magnificent view of the Matterhorn and was very large, comfortable, well decorated and outfitted with high end fixtures and appliances. Very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean and the breakfast was really good too with variety of fresh fruit, vegetables and quality cold cuts. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others
