As the financial capital of Switzerland and headquarters of several large companies including FIFA, there’s a good chance that if you’re in Zurich you’re here on business. But that doesn’t mean this city doesn’t have a playful side.
Known for its cleanliness and fresh air, it comes as no surprise that the luxurious ski resorts of the Alps are within an easy distance of both the city and Zurich Airport, which is only a 12 minute drive from the city center.
The center is also a fast-growing cultural hub, packed with art galleries and museums. The Swiss history museum is called Landesmuseum and the Kunsthaus houses some of the most important pieces of art owned by Switzerland. For an interesting combination of art and culture, check out the Fraumunster, a gothic church with window paintings attributed to Marc Chagall.

The shops, restaurants were great especially where we stayed in the old district. Light rail and trains to Zurich make it very easy to get around even for people who enjoy walking. We visited the National Museum and enjoyed it. It was not overwhelming or too large to explore. We did not have time to check out anything else in the guidebook and I am sure there is more to see. One museum we wanted to visit had closed.

Great walks around town, plenty of restaurants in Neiderdorf district near where we were staying, trams to everywhere just watch out for them as they do not give way, art galleries were wonderful. You have to remember it is another city so more overwhelming than the countryside villages.

Zurich is a small city and easy to get around by tram and bus. The hotel was in walking distance of the Zurich lake. Nice cafés along the lake but expensive. Some cafés charge £6.00 for a coffee. The restaurants in the supermarkets are the cheapest. Food not very imaginative, up market restaurants very expensive. The service isn’t very good waiters are not trained properly. Allowing dogs in cafés and restaurants should not be allowed.

Lovely place but ridiculously expensive meaning poor value.
Lovely place but ridiculously expensive meaning poor value. Our hotel was terrible which really tarnished our view of Zurich in general. We should have stayed in France and just come in on a day trip.

Zurich is a beautiful lake city and many great locales are within reach. You can visit Jungfraujoch, Mt. Titlis, Mt. Pilatus, Lucerne, Heidiland. One can also visit the Rhine Falls and neighboring countries such as Germany and Liechtenstein. There are many convenient day trips from Zurich by coach. You get good food everywhere. Uber rides offer value for money. Train station is in the heart of town.
First time traveling in Switzerland. Arrived in Zurich and needed a hotel close to the rail system in order to catch an early train to Zermatt the following day. Walhalla Guest House was perfect! Quiet, comfortable room, friendly and efficient front desk, and employee willingness to answer inquiries regarding future travel within the country was all greatly appreciated after a long flight from the US. Even better...a short walk to the train station! Maybe one minute tops. Will stay here again, and recommend to friends and family.
The hotel's location is excellent. From the airport we got on a tram to Central and from there the hotel was just a stone's throw away. It's also quite near to the main train station. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around it. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had trouble working out how to use the key; they patiently helped me with that. They also let us store our bags during the day after our stay, so we didn't have to check them into lockers while we toured Zurich.
The staff was very welcoming, we let the luggages there and went to visit town, they offered us coffee and smiles 😂. The location is perfect - near train station, trams, supermarkets, walk to the river. From the airport we reach here by tram. All you need is nearby. . The rooms were very clean and all bathrooms consumables very good. The breakfast excellent. . The staff exceptional. All was perfect. If we will be back in Zurich we will stay here for sure.
This hotel is in such a great location, especially if you are travelling to/from the railway station, which is literally just across the bridge. This was a perfect place for us to stay one night at the beginning of our tour of Switzerland. The view from the room window over the city (and mountains far away) was great. It is incredibly easy to walk from the hotel to all the main places in Zurich, the old town etc. Breakfast was really lovely.
Everything in Switzerland is expensive. This is the cheapest I could find without sacrificing comfort and experience. We've stayed in quite a few Meininger hotels in other European cities, this is by far the best. What we liked about Meininger Zürich versus other Meininger hotesl: check in and out was smooth, parking area has direct access to the hotel, parking spaces are wide (we really liked it because we brought a 7-seater).
So I booked a twin bed and they gave me a much larger bed than expected! The pillows and mattress were exceptionally comfortable and the room temperature was perfect. It is perfectly situated close to bars and the old town, but i heard no noise at night that you usually hear when staying in hotels in similar locations. Best night sleep i've had in a long time, I'd definitely stay here again when i come back to Zurich
The room is clean. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is well done too. Really enjoyed the stay at H+ Zurich. While the hotel is a distance away from the city centre, but in return, the surroundings are quiet.. There is a supermarket nearby, massage place and it is also a quick ride to and from the airport. Rather convenient!
The best part about this hotel is its proximity to Zurich HB, the main central station, and the grocery stores like Coop, Shopville and Migros. The hotel staff was also courteous and helpful. They were friendly and helped us out. The plus point was also the daily breakfast buffet which was included in our stay.
One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in! Super friendly team members, nice and clean rooms, they even have library with books, coffee and a view to the small river! Location is extremely convenient too: just about 8-9 min walk away from the old town. Would definitely come back if ever in Zurich again!
Superb, as always. Very conveniently located, just opposite the Central Station, with friendly and efficient staff, comfortable and scrupulously clean rooms, a cosy bar and an excellent breakfast. While not cheap, I consider it the hotel in Zürich with the best price/quality relationship.
It's the cheapest hotel with decent sized rooms, cleanliness and service in "downtown" Zürich, so this is why I picked it. Otherwise you either have either massively overpay (if travelling on a budget) or stay in a room the size of a cupboard in Altstadt on the other side of the river.
Loved the location. Directly out front of the hotel is the metro stop. Which was super helpful to get around Zurich. Really enjoyed the room and the bathroom. Probably the best hotel, not owned by Hilton or Marriot, I have ever stayed in Europe. Highly recommend this location/hotel.
Being a Capsule Hotel you can’t expect luxury, it was nevertheless very practical and beautifully made, clean and practical.
It’s in absolutely downtown Zurich in the old town, walking distance from everything.
highly recommend it if you travel with a tight budget.
This nice little hotel is in a perfect location for walking around Zurich to most of the sights. Pricing was reasonable for Switzerland. Breakfast was very nice. The staff was amazing and the little lounge looked very inviting.
room was very clean and new. there is no reception or staff but when we messaged the hotel on Booking.com over a faulty kettle, they responded promptly. direct access to Zurich Airport via tram number 10 right outside the hotel
The hotel was in a very good location, with tram station very close. 5 min from the center of Zurich and 15-20 from the airport.
We also had the choice to choose a different type of pillows.
Breakfast was okay.
the location is perfect to reach both side of Zurich and near the main train station to get to the airport. it was very calm and clean. The check in took me 2 minutes and would recommend the hotel !
Location near to train station—- 5 minutes walk , 15 minutes walk to Zurich lake , city center near by 7 minutes walk , Starbucks next to the hotel
Staff very kind and helpful
Very clean
