We had a quick stopover here on our way back to the mainland. So didn't get a chance to use any of the additional facilities on offer. We did however have a nice meal in the restaurant in the evening.

The location was near the ferry terminal which was what we needed
Nanaimo is a great city. Has incredible views of the bay and mountain range. Very friendly people. I happened upon a lovely kitchen store, Maison Cookware & Bakeware, that has an incredible selection of quality kitchenware. I spent some time talking to the owner, Julia House. She was a wealth of information on everything in her store. She said they will soon be opening a tableware store in the same complex. Definitely a stop for every cook!

Nanaimo was a little city that is spread far apart, but everything you need is 10mins away
The homelessness issue rears its head all around Nanaimo but not as aparant as Vancouver!
A lot of OLD buildings with a lot of CLOSED but there is a bunch of construction, so I am wondering if the city will soon rebuild?

Nanaimo is a cool little city. Depending on the goal of your trip renting a vehicle is recommended, since the city is spread out. As well there is much to see in surrounding areas. With the ocean, mountains and forest this community is surrounded by nature and beauty!

We had a great dinner at Firehouse Grill and fantastic coffee at Regards Coffee and the walk along the waterfront was nice but nothing super special, in all honesty it's kind of a dreary, quiet place that isn't very pretty. Maybe it has way more to offer than what meets the eye but I truly wouldn't care to stay there for more than a night passing through.

There was a couple of RATS outside by the pool but they stayed away from people. The hot tub wasn’t working either. But the pool was GLORIOUS and the room was clean to perfection. It was a nice place to sleep in!

I didn't see much of Nanaimo, just Petraglyph Park, before heading to Victoria. This side of Nanaimo was quiet, and I left very early. One great thing about South Nanaimo is its proximity to the Duke Point Ferry - a short drive. Also, the lack of nightlife meant my visit was quiet.
I would recommend visiting Petraglyph Park. It's not easy to find it, you have to be driving on the northbound side, but it's beautiful. I've enjoyed other aspects of Nanaimo in the past, especially the Woodgrove area, and I've found people there very friendly.
right downtown it is our regular point to stop while on transit on or off Vancouver Island. there is a vibrant restaurant scene, art and a water front walk all there. the hotel itself has choice of fine dining, a bar. there is nothing outstanding about it, but the view from some of the rooms, but it is handy, reliably clean and friendly. good value for the cost.
The room is spacious and clean with very nice view. It's very clean. Fridge is good size. Starbuck coffee is very nice to have.vthe amenities are of good quality. Those little things are really nice to have. Besudes, the hotel is very pet friendly. We will definutely recommend to our friends and we will come back again.
Nice big room, close to nanaimo city center (less than 10min to walk), good price, helpful staff. Laundry is possible, but only in self service. Good point to visit many things in the surroundings (from Parksville to Chemainus many parks with a roughly 30min drive, North Island Wild Recovery Center is worth a visit!)
The staff there is really nice and patient. I booked two hotel in Nanaimo. This hotel provides breakfast but another one doesn’t. The best part is that you can go swimming in the lake and then go hot tub after. It’s really nice. Also, they are super friendly to pet. It only cost $20 for a dog to stay 2 nights.
The breakfast was the best I had in my 6 weeks travelling in Canada. The room is very quiet to the back garden with chicken. Anthea is a very friendly host, who tried to help me with everything. The rooms are very nicely decorated. Nanaimo is in a short walking distance.
Easy access to the waterfront and 2 on site restaurants. Helpful staff. Hotel is undergoing aome renovations, so, some interruptions accepted. I arrived early and they gladly kept my luggage until I could check in. Good coffee in room with single cup coffee machine.
Darlene made us very welcome and provided us with very suitable recommendations for dinner. Breakfast was excellent.
We thought that this was the cleanest property we hade every stayed at.
The location was great for catching the ferry from Nanaimo.
The location is pretty convenient to the downtown area, and it's about C$20 cheaper than 2* hotels with private rooms. The shared kitchen is nice for camaraderie but the stoves are in poor repair and the equipment (knives etc.) is crap.
I liked the accessibility of the hotel which is exactly off the road and it wasn't hard to find at all. The room was huge and had everything we expected in a hotel. I liked how close the restaurant is and the food was great too.
The location worked well for us, about 10-12 minutes from downtown Nanaimo. The suite was new and clean. Beds were new looking but firm. Host was friendly and responded to most questions quickly.
The staff is amazing the hotel is beautiful, comfy and quiet. Central location to downtown. Next time I will get a room with a view of the ocean. That was my mistake.
The room was immaculately clean, the hotel was SUPER easy to find, the bed was comfortable, and there was great food nearby. This was our best stay on this trip!
