Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.
The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.
The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.
The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.

The water falls are totally amazing , take your time and allow a full whole day for both sides
Did not have the time to go through the town itself.
Booking.com arranged the taxi as part of the deal, this was a problem for me as there was a swap of cars at the boarder that was very worrying , not clear and to be honest i though we was going to something bad to happen. I would suggest you make sure you have a taxi that takes you from door to door. this des work fine as we had a taxi take us direct from the jungle lodge to the airport on our return to home.

Definitely recommend staying at Puerto Iguazú when visiting the waterfalls. I've been to the nearby town in Brasil too (Foz do Iguaçu) and it didn't seem as nice. In Puerto Iguazú you have all you need: a conveniently located bus terminal with many buses (some also cross the border, check the timetable in advance), a launderette, farmacy, nightlife with nice restaurants for any budget.
The only hard thing was cash withdrawal. I solved it by exchanging some of my cash into Argentinian pesos.
You should visit both the Argentinian and Brasilian sides of the waterfalls.
On the Argentinian side, be aware that there's an independent company in the waterfalls park which organises boat trips which need to be booked in advance (if you're interested in a boat trip).
In Brasil, you should also visit Parque Das Aves and the huge Itaipú dam.
Allow ~4 days in total, it will be beautiful!

Amazing bucket list experience!
Amazing bucket list experience! We went later in the day and rode the boat ride that took us practically right next to the falls! Truly awe-inspiring and something that all should experience. Prices are great. Be prepared for the steps down, and then back up!...to and from the boats - it's a bit of a climb. Didn't get to do much else at the park - if there is a next time, we will go earlier to get the full experience!

Very disappointed.
Very disappointed. Spent time and money to get to this part of Argentina to see these falls and we saw very little due to over tourism. It was so crowded you were elbow to elbow, face to face and some times wheel chairs running over your feet so they can get by. It was terrible. What a way to ruin 1 of the 7 wonders.
I was unlucky with the weather (torrential rain) so spent quite a bit of time at the hotel, but it worked out because the lobby and hotel restaurant were cosy spots for getting some work done in between my travels. The surrounding greenery, large windows and heavy rain fall made a nice ambience! Staff was lovely and welcoming! The restaurant food is average but they have a good wine list. Many attractions are nearby but the town is a bit far (3km+). That said, I enjoy a big walk.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and courteous. I like to eat my breakfast later so they packed fruits and sandwiches for my day trips.
I like that the accommodation is in town. Like that you can also experience the vibe of puerto iguazu itself. Many hotels are more outside and 'on their own'.
Very cute and charming room with attention to details.
Cozy chill out area surrounded by plants for a little jungle feeling.
This is a modern and beautiful hotel close to the Puerto Iguazu downtown. We stayed for two nights with raining days, so we definitely need to take a risk and come back to see the waterfalls with the better weather, I will book this hotel again. The rooftop is beautiful, great are to relax, have dinner or have some drinks (50 % discount for women on Wednesdays). Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Immersed in the jungle, this is a wonderful and very quiet hotel with spacious rooms and relaxed staff. Swimming pool area is great for unwinding after visiting the falls but also for spotting stunning butterflies. They also recommended great drivers for our day trips!
Onsite restaurant is great - lots of locals even make the effort to go there.
It is a fun place ... if you like beer you'll lilke this place. We were there in the off-season. I bet during peak season or weekends this has a lot of partying going on. Pool/outside is nice. It is on the edge of town so is one of the closest hotels to the Argentina entrance to Iguazu. Food is decent. Staff was accommodating.
Nico was excellent, both in advance of and during our stay. He was v communicative and booked our hotel pick up and Brazil side of the falls tour with a reliable driver. The hotel is v well located, just across from the bus station and walking distance from local restaurants and bars. Our room was nice and quiet.
The host, Mariano, was amazing - gave me information about visiting the falls and recommendations for around the town on Puerto Iguazu as soon as I checked in. The accomodation was clean, good location close to restaurants and the bus station. I could easily have stayed longer!
amazing hotel in a beautiful location! super relaxing with multiple pools and bars. i really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back. also, the spa is a must. make sure to get a massage with Janina - she’s the best massage therapist I have ever had!
Location perfect as Puerto iguazu is a great break out place to visit the waterfalls. The room was cheap, but all facilities were clean nonetheless. I loved the friendliness of the staff and the two little dogs they kept. Overall atmosphere was very good.
Pablo is an amazing host and helped us around. The B&B is very well located in a quiet street yet very close to the city center. We had a great breakfast and overall really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this hotel to everyone in the Iguazu area.
The place was safe, clean and convenient. The hostess was very nice and helpful. She makes great breakfast! They even helped me find my passport. I would recommend this hotel to everyone going to Puerto Iguazu.
We were in a 2 bedroomed bungalow near main hotel but could make use of hotel pool which was very welcome . It was near enough to walk to the tree Frontiers site.
The bungalow had kettle which was useful
Breakfast was good. Loved all the fresh fruit and sweets. Liked everything about the hotel and the staff at the front desk were so helpful with recommendations for things to do and where to eat.
Staff were very kind and helpful. Great location, a bus stop just across the hotel to travel to the falls, so you don’t need to walk back and purchase bus tickets at the bus terminal.
Location location location would highly recommend this as the best value for Iguazu falls, no not cheap but...used hotel guide for Brazil side, and all transfers, excellent
