There are 6 rooms which are really spacious with big windows. A small micro canal runs through at the entrance of the house to make it feel very relaxed and soothing. The staff are well recruited and trained. Specially a girl named Gem (truly a gem of a person) was so helpful with a beautiful smile on her face and made our stay at Upon a Time more pleasant. She suggested good restaurants which turned out to be excellent places to have Thai food in that area (most of the time people suggest some general restaurant but she did her homeworks well and came up with her suggestions). She helped us by hiring a scooter with a great deal. Por was also one quite boy with nice smile who helped us figuring out what to do there. They serve excellent breakfast for moderate people like us, they have fresh coffee and fresh fruit juice for breakfast too which were excellent. They were freshly prepared everyday by general staff but they were so well prepared and presented that it seemed to be prepared by professional kitchen staff, this says a lot about the owner of the property and how he looks over everything.

Rooms were cozy and cleaned every day, the pool area was nice to relax at. Food at the restaurant was good and big portions. Location is a little outside the city - which we liked.

Not in Old quarter but fairly central to airport and city, Auntie Bow who works at the reception was a big highlight not only in my stay in Chaing Mai but of my trip. Incredibly friendly and happy to assist with any questions. Also recommended local events and food to try as well.

Easy walk to crazy horse, Jira restaurant for delicious cheap meals, 7 eleven and Skugga Farm for nice coffee and fresh bread. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountain. We had a fridge and the bed was very comfortable. The place has a lovely feel with the nice garden. Owner organised transport for us to the hot springs so we could take the local bus from there back to Chiang Mai. Would definitely stay again.

At The Step Chiang Mai each room comes with bed linen and towels. What a wonderful stay at the step. The host could not have been more helpful, giving alot of information about the area and things to do, they also offer tours at reasonable prices. The rooms are very modern and comfortable. Great location on the edge of town it's really quiet but we could cycle to Maya Mall, Fashion market and Angkaew Reservoir in about 10 minutes. Their are lots of varied eating options locally from 50 baht Thai to top notch European cuisine. Check Google Maps, you won't be disappoint! The staff are delightful and the 'Boss Man' had perfect English and could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Rooms are really comfortable. Beds are European style medium firm the balcony is beautiful, plenty of electrical sockets with desk and table for two. Coffee making in room, separate kitchen facilities. Really nice bathroom with hot and cold water. There is a full size swimming pool within walking distance at Centre of the Universe. They had 2 bikes and we cycled everywhere we wanted and had a really relaxed stay. This part of Chiang Mai is clearly where the well off locals live. It's absolutely beautiful with fields and mountain views. We felt totally safe walking and cycling. Crazy good value for genuine European 3 star room facilities in 4 star location. I think they also do monthly rates for those seeking an AirBnB alternative.
