Just what I needed, clean and comfortable and exactly what I'd expect for the price point. The plate, cutlery and food compost bag were a very smart addition for eating a take aways in the room as they don't serve dinner.
The owner is lovely and very friendly , the guest house is spotless and has a fully equipped kitchen so you can make your own meals if you wish , will definitely be back !
The staff are so helpful and the food is excellent. I always look out for availability here before checking anywhere else in Kirkwall - it's so worth it for the way you are looked after and the dinners.
Beautiful dining room & lounge, contemporary, comfortable & stylish. Food excellent, especially lunch & dinner. Staff friendly & helpful. Room wasn’t huge but very clean & comfortable. Blackout curtains so the light nights weren’t a problem for sleep.
Great location. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was great (recently renovated; not all pictures on the web are accurate). There are two bars on site, one for pre-post-dinner drinks and the other a more casual pub with sports screens.
Room recently refurbished with modern bathroom. Room cleaned. Excellent breakfast with wide choice. Staff welcoming and friendly. Location perfect. Pity the dining room was closed by the close-by sister Ferry Inn excellent
Good location (right next to the ferry) and nice room. Good food in restaurant and for dinner. Friendly staff.
We loved the central location of the property, located close to all the hot spots and with the added bonus of having a great coffee place (Archive Coffee) on its doorstep. The property itself is nice and cosy and very clean with all the kitchen utensils available to cook breakfast or dinner. It also has a great WiFi connection. All in all a we had a great time.
The Sanderlay Guest House offered good value for money. It’s not right in City Centre. So it didn’t cost a fortune. But it was close enough for our Rabbies tour van to be willing to drop us off & pick us up. It was only a £5 taxi ride to our dinner location. Our room was comfortable & clean. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious & efficiently delivered with their preset menu selection & breakfast time. Our host was very welcoming & had a great sense of humour. We would definitely go back there
