It has been sensitively restored this year, with the aim of providing a premium, contemporary English inn, with sophisticated charm and historic character. The building features a 17th century fireplace and exposed beams, it also has free WiFi and free on-site parking. Large room beautiful bathroom

The Nags Head Hotel 4 stars

Great Missenden

A 10-minute walk from the centre of Great Missenden is the Nag’s Head Hotel, a 4-star 15th century inn. Guests can enjoy contemporary styled interiors, Anglo-French fusion cuisine and free Wi-Fi.

Each en suite room is individually designed, some featuring original wood beams and all boasting modern fittings. Views look out onto the surrounding countryside and the Nag’s Head’s own large garden. I liked the back patio area with different types of seating.

The Three Horseshoes 3 stars

Drayton Parslow

Set amid beautiful countryside, this village pub with excellent restaurant and popular bar is just off the B4032 between Winslow and Leighton Buzzard

Ideal for a weekend away in a quaint village, the hotel has easy access to Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Leighton Buzzard, and even London via the M1. Double motorway road closures on my drive to the property meant a three and a half hour journey became six, I arrived at 01:30 and had to get the owner out of bed. He was extremely kind. Amazing value. Breakfast is superb. Highly recommend!

This family-run Victorian coaching inn, set in the beautiful village of Waddesdon, offers comfortable accommodation with a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Guests can take a walk through the famous Waddesdon Manor. Built in 16th century French chateau style, here you will find an impressive array of art including work by Gainsborough and Reynolds. Everything was perfect for our wedding night. The staff allowed a friend to decorate the room. The staff were charming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you.

The Olde Bell, BW Signature Collection 3 stars

Marlow

The Olde Bell, BW Signature Collection is a modernised 3-star coaching inn providing Ilse Crawford designed restful rooms with a rustic elegance. Some parts date back as far as 1135 and it has kept some of its original design features. The only suggestion I would have is to allow the opportunity to dine in one of the more original old areas.
