Built in 1912 and offering budget, backpacker-style accommodation in a charming historic building, National Park Alpine Lodge features free WiFi in communal areas and both Netflix and satellite channels in the shared lounge area. It is located in National Park Village, 25 km from Mount Ruapehu. Free private parking is available on site.

I felt like home. Joyce is super nice! The Lodge has everything you need: comfortable bed, big kitchen, good wifi, a nice and comfy common area, hot water, groceries. The place is quiet and very well located for tongariro national park (you take shuttle buses and Joyce can take you to Whakapapa).

The overall experience was great. No faults at all. Perfectly placed for my husband who was doing the Tongariro Crossing. Excellent facilities. Washer, dryer. Hose pipe for dirty boots. The service was brilliant too. The lodge was warm when we arrived and advice for dinner was greatly received. In walking distance of a four square for essentials is good too.

The hotel offered more facilities than we expected. Dining room staff for dinner were excellent. Delighted at large dining room. Excellent breakfast. Only problem with room was the bathroom was far too small. Room was warm and cozy.

Mountains were within view of the dinning area. Very quiet - literally didn't see any staff or other customers my two nights. Clean Comfortable bed Convenient location for the one restaurant in National Park and pickup location for the shuttle bus.

It's very well located (close to the beginning of many tracks). The place is clean, the bed is confortable. The breakfast is very good. Emmaly, Josh and Gillian were all very nice, they gave me good advice to enjoy some tracks despite the weather being not that good ^^ Thanks !

Perfect lodge for taking the shuttle to the Tongariro National Park. Clean room and bathroom. Beds and the bathroom facilities are ok. Big kitchen for preparing your meals and very nice saloon/dinning hall for eating or spending some time with your friends playing board games or just reading

Rooms are clean, and tastefuly decorated. Located close to National Park and Whakapapa ski fields. The spa pool is great for relaxating after hiking or skiing. The drying room and kitchenette are very useful, although if it's a full house the shared fridge/freezer provided wouldn't be adequate, and there is only dinning table and chairs for 6 people, so a small table and chairs outside each room would be useful.

The hotel had a good size restaurant, which provided for breakfast and dinner ( we paid separately for these meals). It was good to have this given the quite remote location. Bed very comfortable and has electric the winter months. There is also an electric radiator in the room.

Shower pressure was amazing, hot water and great pressure, not usually found in this region, and for this type of accomodation. Finding the room was a bit confusing, there were a couple of missing lightbulbs in the hallway, and the smoke stop doors felt like were going the wrong way, but we found the room, it was comfortable, had the required furniture. When we returned from the mountain / dinner in the evening, the whole building was warm and comfortable.

Great location for hiking Tongariro Crossing. Close to a couple of good places eating out for dinner. Used the kitchen facilities to prepare our lunches, plenty of space. Property was clean and facilities were good for our party of 5. Beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers.
