I had booked had electrical issues (I'm Jessica, The Wife, not Henry, btw), so the staff upgraded us to a two-story cottage next to a meadow filled with birds...and one magnificent race horse! They even brought our dinner to us, just to be kind to weary travelers -- just look at my vegan wild chestnut and mushroom pie! And the raspberry cake with sorbet to match was brilliant. Our breakfast outside on their sunny patio was wonderful - my introduction to the UK's now-popular vegan version of a proper full English Breakfast -- my plant-based sausages were divine! We met the chef who knows vegan cooking from his Eastern European religious background -- fascinating! The Royal Oak is a gem. We'll be back. Five Stars.
