There was a warm welcome when I arrived
The bedroom I was given Room 6 was perfect for the night - lovely and clean , bed was 7/10 comfortable , also had extra pillows - shower room was spacious and clean - water in the shower wasn’t really warm but was adequate
The main bonus of staying here is a the lovely food
It’s incredibly close to the M6 and hugely convenient as an overnight stop

Staff where fantastic, couldn't do enough for you. All ready to return again very soon. Excellent meals both breakfast and evening, Rooms very comfortable. Local hospitality was great too and very friendly.
The Anvil Lodge sits just off the main street, away from the hustle and bustle of the old market town, but an easy walk from pubs, restaurants and quaint shops.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening, which distinguishes them from country or guest houses.
We had a warm welcome, the service was friendly and laid-back. Breakfast was automatically included - and tasty. The shower (lovely big towels) and bedroom were lovely and comfy and everything was prettily decorated with lovely little touches like the hamper of tea making materials and friendly cats on the premises. The weather was very hot and there were fans in the rooms.
We had our dinner there too and it was very relaxed despite the lateness of the hour. Checkout was a relaxed 11am- nobody was standing outside waiting for us to leave.
The Vine never fails to please. Beautiful old coaching inn with good sized rooms including a level access room off the coaching yard.
Repeat customers who will continue to repeat!
Staff and surroundings excellent.
Lovely fresh cooked food for both dinner and breakfast.
Top quality, lovely smelling bathroom toiletries.
We travelled with a dog who was provided with bowl bed and treats.
There was also a dog station for additional treats , bowls and water.
Excellent breakfast. A first class experience, except for ..... it was a hot day and the bed duvet was too thick, so I was too hot and could not sleep. A hotel of this calibre should offer a thinner , summer duvet.
I will happily stay here again, but will bring my own duvet.
Facilities were excellent, staff very nice.
Dinner on Friday was excellent and so were the breakfasts. Can't recall his name but whoever was on duty on Friday night was very attentive and good company.
Beautiful, clean, rustic inn located perfectly for the town and Gatehouse Theatre.
