The Ship and Pilot Inn, hotel in Parracombe

Set in Ilfracombe and within 400 metres of Wildersmouth beach, The Ship and Pilot Inn has a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property.

Location excellent. Hosts very responsive when messaged. Room a little tired, mattresses very springing and pillows not the best. Music from pub below was loud until 11.30 pm on the Friday night which wasn't ideal with a young family. Heating wasn't on but host sorted this out immediately when asked.

Lost in the Exmoor naional park in a small village, this hotel is a surprise to discover as the rooms are among the mostbeautiful we have seen during our trip. Allis totally modern and even with a touch of high-end design: a special mention to the bathroom that is the most modern and elegant one that we have seen in our entire trip: even our fully new bathroom at home is not so beautiful ! And the restaurant is serving innovative and delicious meals with a breakfast made just for you according your taste. Fantastic experience of englishness !

Everything. The welcome and hospitality of Craig and Aidan, the excellent food we enjoyed for dinner, the spacious room, with great coffee for the cafetiere, and the overall ambience.

Every aspect of my stay was outstanding: a squeaky clean and well-appointed large room; an immaculate bathroom with up-to-date features. I regret already having dinner elsewhere because, given the high quality of my breakfast, I clearly missed out. As I said to the owners, my fresh fruit breakfast bowl with unsweetened muesli and yoghurt, followed by a Full Exmoor (perfect, non-rubbery scrambled eggs; wilted cherry tomatoes, etc.) was like being invited round by a friend who's a gourmet chef.

The new owners, Craig and Aiden, acquired the inn around the time I booked the stay, the booking having been made on the strength of the reviews before they purchased it. However, they have ‘hit the ground running’ and if they do not succeed, there is no justice in the world!! The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was sumptuous. The breakfasts could not be faulted and the menus for lunch and evening meals were based on delicious local produce. In short, a top notch place to explore North Devon.

Wonderful breakfast included in the price. Gorgeous little village with easy drive of Lynton and Lynmouth. The room was large and very well stocked with everything you could need. The bed was extremely comfortable and roomy. There was a lovely village vibe too with the postmistress and the fishmonger both using the Inn as a community drop in. We loved the restaurant on site too, which was obviously a favourite with locals. The food was delicious. We had a wonderful night's stop over.

From our arrival to when we said goodbye we were treated like friends as opposed to customers. Great owners and staff, really friendly and accommodating - loved our evening chats, there appeared genuine interest in what we had done that day whilst also giving suggestions of where to go / what to see. Food was superb - great choice and locally sourced produce which is always a plus Definitely on the recommendation list - location is lovely for after dinner walks

Small inn with bar and restaurant in quiet village. Bedroom was comfortable and provided everything we needed, including a stylish bathroom. Food fabulous - gorgeous breakfasts and an interesting evening menu, featuring really well-cooked meals. (They even bought in crab specially because they found out that I was craving a crab salad.) Staff friendly and helpful. Location good for visiting North Devon coast and Exmoor.
