In the Cambridgeshire village of Buckden, this Inn dates back to 1492 and is full of original features. The bar and restaurant have open fires, wooden beams and seasonal food.

The Lion’s bright, airy rooms each have a TV and free tea and coffee facilities. All rooms also have traditional décor, and a private bathroom.

The staff were excellent and the room was clean and spacious. We’ve stayed previously and enjoyed the central location to the A1.

Situated in Wood Walton and with University of Cambridge reachable within 47 km, Dog and castle features concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a terrace. 26 km from Longthorpe Tower and 28 km from Peterborough Cathedral, the property provides a bar and barbecue facilities. The inn offers an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and room service.

An unusual abode which is well on the way to becoming a hot trip for travellers who enjoy staying off the beaten path. The kitchen does a marvellous job and everybody who works there couldn’t be nicer!

Breakfast - food was excellent, choice was so varied, never seen a toffee milkshake before, staff fantastic, made Mum a poached egg and got her a banana when there was none left. Dinner - superb. Fresh and tasty and excellent portions. Varied menu. Room - very clean Pool - beautiful until the children arrived! Could do with slightly less wide step ladders for those with knee problems!

I never eat breakfast. Dinner was excellent. The Hotel could do with a lift for older guests like me.

Breakfast was good, i.e. premier inn standard. Room was a comfortable twin. We did not have dinner there. The staff were very helpful. There is a pool. Convenient for Huntingdon, St Neots and Cambridge.

Most things really; it’s an old Inn/pub and right in centre of town. We weren’t looking for luxury but comfort and proximity to town & Cromwell Museum

We found the pub easily enough, check-in was straightforward and they were serving dinner that evening so we ate there. The staff were friendly, the portions large (esp. the children's), and tasty. Although our room was in the main building it was much quieter than other pubs I've stayed in with similar arrangements. Although the room was small, the bed was really comfortable.

Dinner was disappointing, my breast of lamb was a very small piece which was hard plus the tough membrane hadn’t been removed. Breakfast was fine.

Parking was easy, staff friendly, room was well appointed. Had a lovely dinner there. Breakfast I only had pastries but they were warm and fresh. Great value for money.

Only its FUTURE potential, based on its historic past, and a return to the welcoming and historic Inn it once was a number of years ago.
