It seemed like a nice pub and location on paper. Unfortunately, we were unable to eat at the restaurant there and this spoiled our stay

We stayed at the “ Red Lion” for 1 night as we were due to fly out of Exeter airport the next day. We stayed in the apartment, when we arrived we were given a warm welcome and made to feel at home straight away. The apartment was comfortable and cosy with everything you would need. The pub itself had a lovely atmosphere and made us feel more than welcome with lovely food but what stood out was the staff, you were made to feel like part of the family. A perfect start to our holiday.

I loved the huge super comfy bed and luxurious bedding. The shower was large and powerful with lovely hot water. Our breakfast was lovely and tasty with good quality produce. We also had meals in the evening which were also very tasty with plenty of choice. The bar was very welcoming and comfortable and the staff so friendly and helpful. It was really cosy sitting by the log burner watching the rain lashing down outside.

Food was good for both breakfast and dinner. Good selection for both.
Nice bar area.
Good size room and comfortable bed.
Plug near mirror for hair drying- often a problem in hotel rooms!
Staff very helpful and pleasant.
The room was tastefully decorated and VERY comfortable. Terrificly comfortable beds. Beyond that, the owner Kuz went out of her way to help me. I was ill and with the help of Lillia, they took wonderful care of my husband while I was in hospital. I can't thank them enough for their care of us both. We highly recommend this Inn. The location was in a very picturesque section of Devon. They even organized a Dr to visit me in our roon.
All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The dinner was great and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast too.
And had a natter with with a few of the locals in the bar as I was enjoying a pint.
So all around a very pleasant stay.
This was our second visit to the Butterleigh Inn, which is under new management. We found the refurbished room very comfortable and the staff were very obliging.
A very spacious place in beautiful grounds. Large car parking area on site. The room was a good size with a modern clean bathroom. Breakfast was substantial with a good range of food to eat and a freshly cooked option. Dinner was also very well presented. The housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. Handy for visiting Exeter.
Both the overall standard of the hotel and our room in particular were very comfortable - a lovely bar and restaurant and the food was very good; only one small criticism is that I had the garlic and mushroom Tagliatelle on our first night and if the mushrooms had been sliced much thinner rather than into large quarters, it would have finessed the dish somewhat.
The hotel is modern bright and airy in the public areas. A decent menu for dinner which we all enjoyed including the fish pie, rhubarb and pear crumble, creme brulee. Good full English breakfast too.
The bed was very soft and comfortable.
Breakfast had good selections of food, could possibly add some black pudding.
I booked 5 rooms for my relatives to stay 2 nights at your hotel. Overall we were satisfied and happy. However I have to mention this. We had dinner in your Ripley's Restaurant on our first night. The food was excellent! From starters to the main course and desserts. This was beyond our expectations. Compliments to the chef. The waiters/waitresses were very friendly too.
