Breakfast was very nice, the staff were brilliant. Only thing that bothered us was that we drove past it 2 time before we noticed it was slightly set back from the main road but no real problem really.

Rich in original character and traditional charm, this cosy 19th-century country inn offers good beers, great-value food and comfortable en suite rooms in the converted former stable block.

Originally built in 1866, the Duke of Wellington was once a working farm and an inn for drovers. Traditionally built from Derbyshire limestone, the pub has a slate roof, roaring log fires and extensive gardens. Free wireless internet access is available in the bar.

Staff were very friendly, food was lovely, room was very clean and comfortable, would definately recommend and go again, in fact we are going with family in a couple of weeks

We were lucky enough to be among the first guests after the take-over by new owners and the refurb of the rooms. What a beautiful room we had - no expense was spared. The decor details are thoughtful and stylish and consider the old character of the inn. The furniture is proper oak and good quality, the bed comfy, the bathroom finished to a high spec with all the creature comforts one likes to have when far from home. The breakfast was yummy and freshly prepared and the hosts were friendly and open to help where they could. And, the hot chocolate is divine. The pub was a lovely place to hang out in so all in all, a very pleasant stay and we'd recommend it wholeheartedly.

Characterful Inn / Pub in central village location with free parking. We were upgraded to a larger room with four poster bed as business was quiet on a rainy Monday in January. Friendly staff made us feel welcome. Pub was quiet but had a good choice of drinks and food, although no evening meals served on Mondays or Tuesdays. We were directed to the nearby Boat Inn which provided a full menu and was lively.

Lovely Hotel with lots of character. Staff was very polite and the roast dinner has to be one of the best I’ve had. A great base for walking/hiking the cromford canal and black rocks.

Great location and friendly staff. Really good breakfast and dinner. Excellent wine. Good value for location and facilities. Could do with an upgrade but happy with price which reflects this.

Loved the fact that the hotel had historic connections with Richard Arkwright. The service was great, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and so too was the one dinner we had. I also liked watching the traffic along the road through Cromford and past the hotel from our room - it was quite busy but not too noisy.

Friendly and efficient staff nothing too much trouble. Food excellent. We had a full English which was freshly cooked to order plus an evening meal, which again was freshly cooked. Only criticism was the dinner menu was very limited and pricey. Would have preferred bigger choice if “pub grub”!

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, excellent tray and amenities in the room, good shower, comfy bed, fantastic breakfast! I very much enjoyed my stay, and the hotel is in a great location to explore Cromford and the surrounding areas. I didn't have chance to eat dinner/lunch in the restaurant but the menu looked good and I would like to do so in the future.

We were made very welcome by our host, Pannkaj, who seemed to be everywhere at once but was courteous and helpful. Our room was lovely, spacious and elegant. Our dinner after our long walk was excellent, as was the wine. One of our most pleasant stays in the Peak District with excellent service.
